Col - can't you be a bit less mysterious, or perhaps encourage whoever it is who have asked you to be the messenger to let us have the full story?

I don't know about anyone else, but I am mystified by this idea that there are vaious rifts of any significance dividing the EAW community.

Perhaps I'm a plonker who can't see what's going on under my nose, but truly I do not understand this.

There seems to be a tide building of curious sentiments about this mysterious man that never was... burnout

Col. Gibbon, you may have to impart this information in a public forum like it or not simply because of the nature of the original conjecture.

Gday Boilerplate...Red6?...hmm...is that Cambrai / Kelpie / TheDog you speak of?...the old memory is not what it was...

Ive not spoken to him in some years if thats whom youre refering to...Last time i did actually speak to him he was in ill health and i have a suspicion
it was , aside from a bad back injury, a combination of some form of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Battlefield Sickness from his tours of vietnam.
He never said as much, but im pretty intuitive and had seen it before in a good friend of my fathers. You see john was an accountant and did my tax for a few years,
but the last time i gave him my documentation he asked me to come pick themup as he jus couldnt bring himself to even look at them...no motivation. Which lead
me to believe it was some form of fatigue syndrome...That coupled with his, um...unique for want of a better word, personality traits, rampant chain smoking and love of an aussie
beer...and temper...Just a hunch....The last time i actually SAW him though we didnt not speak was at the international airport in early 2010, but alas he was heading through security in an almight hurry to catch his flight...He took alot of trips to south east asia like alot of old diggers from that conflict, he was just drawn there. He did not look a well man..

I would like to speak to him again but i dont have a phone number, and didnt want to go knock on his door after so many years...especially if he has passed and im greeted by his wife...would be awkward if i ask to speak to someone who is no longer there...He was/is a great old bloke who would give you the shirt off his back...though he did shoot from the hip which tended to polarize some within this community, and fair enough from their perspective. .Im pretty sure after his last enforced holiday from here he just decided not to return....Thats as much as i know....u...would be funny if thats not who you meant at all...Though aside from Ajay in queensland, he is the only one from here i ever met so would know anything about.

The one and only. It's been awhile but I recall you two talked me into offering up some custom campaigns of mine years back under my old moniker. shh.. Tony and crew aren't supposed to know about this wink

Anyway I know John was a bit ribald at times, but he usually had me stitches after reading a few of his posts. (no offense to anyone mind you this was in a different decade)

In any case I'm a bit saddened to hear of his condition today. Unfortunately those kinds of illnesses need a blessing to make things right. sigh

To be honest...im only guessing on his condition...he was a proud man who never complained...but the signs were there and when i saw him at the airport he had that grey look
that ive seen on friends and family when they are not long for this world...i pray he was able to pullmhimself out of it but i suspect not...ya cant teach on old Kelpie new tricks
I have fond memories of him, and the many conversations we had in his smoke filled office/flight room...He gave me my first joystick, an MS Sidewinder that i still have...and my second a Wingman...which i also still have. He was also great counsel during my marital problems. Just a lovely old digger, or sapper as he once was called.....god bless him...i hope he has found peace, be it in this world or the next...

Hi all,
Nice to hear the news of members, but I feel this original thread has served no real purpose but to get some wondering if there is a conflict/problem or not.

If anyone has a problem within this community, then PM me - as moderator I will try to get it sorted.
