I've seen the excellent vids of the new sim and am eagerly anticipating the final product. As long as you're working on the sim, I'd like to know if it's possible to incorporate higher definition (or greater detail) damage visuals that would appear on the aircraft for some of us with higher end rigs.

Wish list:

- fire that can spread from the engine to the cockpit and other parts of the craft.

- more smoke effects variations - thicker plums of smoke as the engine continues to fail, lighter and darker smoke depending on what gets hit. Maybe also simulating the effect on the plane if the oil mixes with the fuel.

- cables snapping off sound effects.

- fuel tank explosions in the air if the fuel is incinerated.

- damaged airfields (or surrounding terrian/structures) due to bombs

- Jammed Guns that have a chance of not working again.

- Overheated guns showing smoke with a chance to fail or mess up the bullet dispersion.

- more fragile wings, rudder, aileronss that have a higher chance to tear off when their maximum threshold is exceeded. Also, engine failures due to stress, punctured radiators, oil leaks, or just plain manufacture defective parts.

- (not a damage model) planes taking off to intercept the enemy planes when spotted - not sure if it was already implemented in one of the videos.

IMHO - WOFF is still king of the hill in WW1 flight sims even if I don't get my wish list.

It looks to me like they have already implemented some great improvements to the damage model for WOFF. Both the visuals, where you can see much more finely detailed damage (bullet holes, shredded plane fabric, etc) and the DM itself where I believe Winder stated (somewhere) that the fire can actually spread and cause other structural failures. So your first wish appears to already have been granted.

Also, I know when I fly P3 now, if my guns jam I'm pretty much done for. I can never get them working reliably again. Single shots at best. So that's probably already taken care of in WOFF too.

Damaged airfields due to bombs is already in there as well. Pol showed some pics of Winder returning to his base after it had been attacked. Blown up buildings. Scorch marks. Looked very good.

Cable snapping sounds would be cool. As would a more convincing sound when two planes collide in mid air. In P3 it doesn't have much weight to the sound. More like a thick piece of paper being ripped than anything else.

Without a doubt we are in for a treat sir. And if by chance OBD isn't able to fulfill all of your wish list, there's a small army of dedicated and talented modders who love to fiddle under the hood to change things.

Thanks yaan.. we have not revealed the feature list yet so I'm not going to tick boxes in your list yet but a large proportion of what you ask is there in. In the last video you can also briefly see a damaged airfield with the Nieuport coming in to land over the badly bombed field (at low light though) with patched up craters after repair.

Yaan,

The scene Pol is talking about is at 4:00 into the 3rd WOFF preview movie. Also, here is a link to the screenshots he posted showing Winders return to base after it had been attacked while he was out on a mission.

Bombed out base

Yaan, you've made it fairly obvious that you've never flown Phase III, as much of your wishlist is a reality today

My question is WHY NOT ?

If computer limitations are the reason, they promise to be even more restrictive for WOFF whenever that is

It's true that I don't fly HiTR as much as I'd like as life always comes in the way, but I do manage to get in about an hour every week. So, I haven't fully discovered all of the great things this sim has to offer yet and I'm very satisfied flying HiTR at the moment. Also, I don't mind waiting for the devs to perfect WOFF into awesomeness.

Thanks yaan98 I think you will be pleased with WOFF - there is always more we can do given time and support.

That's where the balancing act comes into play, Olham's fingernails are history. when he returns from holiday, he might need to see a Doctor for Tanquilizers

Where as I say do it till you're satisfied. We all know our jaws will hit the floor, mine has twice already, not counting Hat-in-the Ring, as that only gets a half of a Jaw Drop
