Hey folks. I'd like to get a newer xbox 360. Still have my refurbed machine that microshaft sent me after my original rroded. Bless its heart it still works but I'd like one of the later models with newer internals and with more memory.
What do I need to do to transfer saves and more specifally, my offline and online accounts? I don't want my online account somehow getting fubared. Thanks.
Also, do they make a matte black xbox with more memory? The only flat black ones I see are 4gb. Its the shiny black ones that seem to have all the memory.

You can use a usb thumb drive (format on xbox up to 16 gb) to transfer.
4gb is the max internal flash memory, but the new style has an optional internal hard drive.

Just move your profile from one to the other. If you dont then you can log in if you remember your email/password associated with your account (along with any security button code)
There used to be a Link for Moving all Licenses via Xbox.com, but Xbox.com seems to have hidden it away.
The transfer cables can be ordered from MS, you can prolly email them and request one for free.
USB Drives wont allow you to copy WMA/MP3s to it nor the Downloaded Xbox/Xbox360 Games, you'll have to re-download those after you transfer your licenses (via download history for your profile.)
I'd personally recommend going to GameStop or Best buy, and getting the transfer cable.
as for Space..
the Xbox 360 "S" has two versions, the 4GB Standard On board Flash Memory, and the 250GB Internal HDD.

Worked fine for me to move games, still had to transfer license though if I wanted to play without being logged in/online.

I just switched from an old style Xbox with a 20GB drive to one of the new ones with a 250GB drive. All I did was use an 8GB drive and transfer everything to it and then to the new system.
I know what Skatezilla is talking about with the licenses, I did it for my old system, and I did have to re-download them all afterward. No idea if things still work the same.

they might have changed it since they wrote up the procedure on xbox.com. (copying DRM Games and Downloaded DRM Media).
Im not sure but when I upgraded to a 120GB Drive from the 20 ages ago, the transfer kit transferred all the licenses automatically via internet connection.
