I admit to playing ROF only for about a half hour every two months or so, but it has always worked properly. Controls. Options. Everything. Well, I just went on vacation (holiday to you Europeans) and decided to play for the first time in about two months. I updated (as I always do), this time to 1.26. What a mistake!

My noticed the default in graphics options and changed them. There is a button that says "apply (must restart game...)." The other choice was cancel. Well, I clicked apply, the game restarted. I checked the options. Back to what they were after installing the 1.26 update. I did this over and over and over again, to no effect.

I couldn't get the sim to go to full screen! Checking the box had no effect. Selecting a different resolution had no effect. This isn't about control assignments. I saw the warning about those when I installed the update. This is about OPTIONS. All of a sudden selecting different options, then clicking apply, does nothing. What the bloody 'ell!!! This update is junk!

Sorry no, this update is NOT complete junk.

We have no such bug reports from users as far as I know.

The overwhelming response from the community is that this update is possibly our best ever.

If you are having problems, either us or the community will try to help you, but your comments are over the top.

One suggestion, assuming what you are saying is true, try setting your options in the launcher first and see if that has any affect.

Remember mate, that your Graphics options have often been changed after a major update.. change your options in the launcher and make sure you have clicked the fullscreen checkbox.
There has been a change to the options available to you graphics wise so thats maybe why your settings have changed.

What is this 2009?

This update is amazing. Why not just ask for help? No other sim/game I've ever played has evolved the way ROF has. Sort out your end user issue then enjoy flying like the rest of us.

Bad hair day i would say.
From my end this was probably one of the easiest patches I've ever downloaded. Not a single hiccup, no frustration, and a much better sim ! My 2-yr old mid-range system still runs RoF like a charm.
As Trooper said, re-checked all your options & settings within the launcher first, and then in-game. Doing a "recovery" may do the trick, well worth it.

It wasnt this update that did you in it was the last update which messed up everyone's graphics. Luckily I saved a snapshot of my graphics settings last patch so I was not affected.

Maybe the mods could pull this thread now. Plainsman has fixed his issues and it doesn't seem like it does any favors for anyone to leave it up.

Oh I dunno, Hog...maybe it shows that the RoF community tries to help someone that has a problem without flaming him/her. I say leave it

From personal experience i've never had any problems patching ROF. Ever! I had the game sinse its release. Ok im might not fly it every day, An even if the time between flying crosses over into next patch update its always patched up perfectly an ran like it should.

I didnt have any trouble with the patch. I dont play the game full screen, but thats just me. Just my 2 cents,I dont care for the clouds being reflected in the water because I seem to fly into them.

It's the, by far, most common way to ask for help - people are just that passionate about their flying hours of spare time they go nuts when it doesn't work. One just have to read through the frustration and try to help them out

Okay I have a problem with this patch as well. Please be gentle if it is user error

I can't update the game to 1.026 in the prelaunch window,when I go ingame I am told I need to update. I get the 777 studio update server but receive a failed to perform update, see update log for details.

While understandable, it is also evidence of either immaturity or arrogance. Immaturity if you haven't been able to learn to keep yourself under control with things get difficult. Arrogance if you start with the premise that you are always right and it must be the other guy's fault.

Ah well, he has egg on his face and the thread should stay up, if for no other reason, to provide an example of how firing first and aiming later can make you look silly.
