Hi.

First post here. And I'm glad to be among you. Let me say that TSH 4.02 is excellent. And after reading through this forum, I've gotten it to work correctly with one remaining issue I can't seem to work out.

I have a Logitech Attack 3 joystick. Using this joystick prevents me from using the "= sign" for throttle up and the "- sign" for throttle down. I would like to use the keyboard for throttle controls rather than using the using the Z axis wheel on the joystick. It feels too unnatural. I wonder if there is a way to disable the Z axis in one of the game files. Not sure how to configure the joystick controls as there doesn't seem to be a way in the device manager. I can only test and calibrate there. Does anybody here know how to do this?

Any ideas on how to get these keyboard controls working would be appreciated.

In TSH Manager, you could switch the throittle axis with another one that does absolutely nothing. Then program your buttons for your throttle control.

Thank you for your response Rudel. I found the TSH Manager and tried to use it. After figuring out how to make it accept changes (I had to change the settings in permissions to allow full control of files), I'm still not sure how to force my Z axis to be disabled, while setting throttle to keyboard control.

Is there a "TSH Manager tutorial" anywhere? In the "Controller Settings" tab at the top of the tool, I see an option for throttle and rudder settings. My options in the throttle pulldown is "use" none, Z2, or Z3. I tried all 3 and my Z axis is still primary and keyboard controls still have no effect.

Actually, setting it to use Z2 instead of Z1 disabled the z-axis throttle control, but the engines were going up and down on their own. And I did not have any way to control throttle on my keyboard.
Using Z3 instead of Z1 disabled z-axis as well, but the keyboard controls still didn't work. In fact there seemed to be no way to control throttle settings using this option as well.

In the F18addon.ini, I tried to manually adjust the "REPLACE_Z1=00" to other parameters. This didn't work either. I hate to sound stupid, but I have to admit, I have no idea how to use this tool. Do I need to do something in the "Other Axes" block or the "TDC Axes" block? Nothing I do here seems to make much difference. Do I use Z3 in the "throttle and rudder settings" and go somewhere else to set the proper keyboard throttle setting key commands? If so, how do I do that?

Again, I apologize for all the questions, but I do appreciate any help offered. Regards.

The problem is that when the sim detects an axis for the throttle, it disables the keyboard commands. What TSH Manager does, is add axis to control radar altitude and the TDC. It also allows you to swap axis. It was written in mind for a HOTAS setup.

I believe you're the first case we've heard about not wanting use a throttle. Because the throttle axis is built into your joystick, you can't just un-plug it. If the potentiometer inside the base is not soldered, you could always disconnect it. Or, if you don't use it at all for any gaming, cut the wire inside.

I have a similar issue with my joystick's built-in throttle. Since I am cheap all I have is:
1) a Saitek ST290 Pro
2) a Suncom F-15E Talon, but no gameport adapater of any sort.

The throttle in my ST290 pro stopped working today, but both JF15 and JF/A-18 still want me to use it.

Not that I actually want my throttle to work. I hated it with a passion because it always falls back to 0% by the force of gravity alone.

Since I'm not getting any gameport adapter any time soon to use my Talon and there is no way I'm getting an old computer just to play my favorite flight sims, I need an alternative. It is silly that there is absolutely no way to use keyboard throttle when your joystick has throttle (especially if said joystick's throttle is absolutely unsuitable for flight sims/doesn't work anyway!)..

I guess my only available game plan is to roll my own gameport adapter, just to make sure things work as I want them to. :\
