Beczl, the developer of the Mig 21 has set up a 30 day kickstart type fundraiser. He's looking for IRO 13K dollars mainly for licenses and DRM apparently.

A $20 contribution will get you access to a pre-release / beta. Unlike Kickstarter you are paying up front with this system.

Here.

The announcement has been a little buried in the ED forums!

Where does it say access to a pre-release/beta? I just see it labeled as a "pre-order"

Do we have an ETA for this?

They talk about access to the preorder in the main mig21 thread here

ETA as usual, two weeks upwards. Got your Wellies on Mace? Looked wild on the news.

I guess it's at least 30 days as the fundraiser thing has 30 days on it.

Not had any flooding here just a bit of rain and wind.

I'm surprised the makers of the DCS series will allow a 3rd party add-on to be sold. 20 bucks is a bit steep for a single plane add-on. Does the price include upgrades to meet compatibilty with future DCS patches?
The manufacturer could easily make the final release non-compatible with a few simple lines of code.

I would gladly pay $20 for quality add-ons. I like this business model (ROF) because it gives the developers a reason to keep developing their product and it give the consumer a choice on what they want to buy.

first, Each DCS flight sim title to date has only added "one aircraft", and has cost more than $20.

Second, where have you been? As said above, ED is fully open to exploring how the third party thing goes. Worst case scenario, it doesn't work and they simply don't develop further SDK's. They wouldn't just render the aircraft useless...

Since these DCS addons are licensed I assume there's been some consideration to future compatibility.

Be a bugger if ED upped the version and made all third party stuff obsolete. <- Joke
