That patch is causing all the trouble.

All the people who have been saying that version 1.0's graphics look good and if you underclock your Nvidia card it doesn't crash are erm, well, they are right.

God****it I hate being wrong but when I am I'll admit it

Version 1.0 does look nice, none of that grainy shadow thing and I have not had the artifacting-freeze thing and have played for quite a while. Sometimes it is good to be wrong.

But, something has gone wrong somewhere along the line at Ubi's end to make it go so wrong but HOPEFULLY, it is fixable with next patches as it started out ok.

I already had MSI Afterburner installed and just lowered my memory clock from 2000 (apparently it should have been 4000?! Not sure why it wasn't) to 1800 with a swift move of a slider and that was it. I still don't like having to do that and Ubi should fix it but as an experiment I had to do it.

I've got it running fine, but it's got this really wierd pixellation on the screen, I'm gonna disable DX11 tessellation and see if it comes back. Other than that, I am very, very impressed. It's got a few nods to the OGR games -admittedly, not many- and it is probably one of the best games to represent movement during infantry combat. I love the suppression mechanic, I've never been shot at -unless you count getting accidentally peppered with bird shot during dove season- but that has to be a little closer to what it feels like. Closer than that blurry effect that BF3 gives you.

So far, I'm liking it. $50 well spent, and so glad I didn't get Spec Ops The Line.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm running a stock clocked MSi GTX 460 Cyclone.

of course you do, lol... you bash good games, and praise bad ones... go fiquer... thou I don't think it's a bad game myself, not much of a tactical experience, more of a slowed down action movie... fed down a path, engaging targets as they arrive to battle, reload, breath, move... repeat... all the tactical aspects seem to be cut scene, stand in the white circle to activate. lol

No, a good game... but nothing more, IMO... so know surprise in our difference of opinions. But we both have a right to them. wink

No, no. We both like the ArmA series, SWAT 4, all the R6 titles with the exception of Lockdown, we both agreed that Dragon Rising was a better tactical experience than Red River (to be fair, you liked RR a lot more than I did), and we both thought GRAW was better on PC. We also agree that MP is better on BF3 than MW3 and the opposite is true for single player.

I believe we disagree on very few games. On the few, we just disagree mightily.

I still haven't finished the campaign, but I'm having a blast with it. Far better than the last few games. Really enjoying how in most missions you can choose to evade or kill without notice rather than just go blasting. They finally gave us a wide variety of environments to play the game in again. We aren't just stuck in Mexico and urban environments. Missions have briefings, challenges to keep it fresh and they don't force a spec ops team to outright fight a war--they just deal with situations. That's how it should be. I can easily see a Rainbow Six game following suit. The coordinated kills are finally fun, unlike in Vegas, and it works well. It's even fun organizing them fully from the drone and working your team through an area quietly like that.
I ran a mission last night where you go around taking out some artillery pieces. Kind of reminded me of the first mission in Summit Strike. No, not a big open map so I could choose where I wanted to go on my own, BUT I had a choice of quiet stealthy takedowns or full on confrontation fire fight.

I hope they get the pc version sorted out, it really is a fun game. I'll probably rebuy it on pc when it's on a Steam sale. I'm not sure if the pc gets the Artic Strike dlc on 7/3 or not, there hasn't been mention. That opens up a new MP mode, along with maps, called Stockade. No descriptions of it out there. Someone has also found evidence of some other game types, Takedown and Safehouse (no LMS mentioned). I think they should've put these out with the game release, but I'll still get the dlc as it comes out.

I'm actually starting to like the actual gameplay the more i get into it... if I could make it through all the lock ups, it might be worth a review, lol

Where did Ghost Lead go? wink

A typical in game incident, happening way too much... if they can fix the crashes, it might actually be a pretty good game... no OGR of course, but not CoD either. wink

Me too Magnum, it gets better the further I play and as I say my crashes have gone.

Worth trying Magnum, download MSI Afterburner and just reduce your memory clock by 100 and try that. I think it doesn't even have to be overclocked for it to crash. You just move a slider and click apply and then you can move it back with no problems.

Worth a try?

I just had my first crash, and it was in the menu, not actual gameplay. Weird.

It's getting better the more I play. Running gun battle through a Pakistani street and now with the Warhound in the snow. The Warhound is pretty cool smile
