So I'm sitting here trying to figure out which of these consoles to get. I have some commuting time every morning and it would be great to spend it on some gaming.

The PS Vita is a power horse it seems and the graphics are spectacular but we all know graphics aren't everything. There are not many games out which sucks and I get the feeling that publishers and developers are very cautious when it comes to the Vita. It has potential the way I see it.

The 3DS has 3D going for it, lots of games and of course great first party support. Its not the best hardware and the latest graphics. Here I am a little worried about third party developers. Is Super Mario the only thing Nintendo has going for it or can I count on some great third party games?

Does anyone of you guys/girls have both consoles? Which one do you prefer and which one do you think is better. Would you recommend on or the other? If you've got one of them what is it you like about it, what don't you like?

Thank you for your time =)

My answer would be to get an iPad.

I think it would depend more on the kind of games you like to play. It doesn't matter one bit if Nintendo is "better" if your favorite game is on the Vita. So do some research, find some DS and Vita games you might want to play, and let those titles help you decide. BTW, the "3D" feature of the 3DS is cool, but you have to "train" yourself to relax your eyes to see 3D so go to a store and try this first before you plunk down your cash on it.

My son has a DSiXL but we don't find much games for DS that he likes, mostly just Pokemon. I would've rather bought a Vita, but it wasn't out when I got that DS frown

get whichever one has the fastest loading times

i can't stand playing a portable console that takes forever to load its games

i like to be able to open up / turn on my console and play almost immediately - when you're commuting you don't want to have to wait for a minute while the thing loads up. my commute is around 25 minutes and waiting 5 minutes every trip while the console loads a new level really sucks.

the nintendo has the benefit of having a lot of educational software available for it - you can get language learning games for it, for example

You might also want to consider this list of Vita compatible PSP games. If you already have some as digital purchases from the PSN Store, it might swing the argument... there's a lot of quality gaming there for less than $10 a go...
