Are the DLCs for this worth it? I know there are like item DLCs and one mission DLC.

The Missing Link DLC is absolutely worth getting. It adds a whole new chapter to the single player game and it ties in perfectly.

Trying to decide if I would like this or not. I could not get into the first original version. I like games like LA Noire and loved the original Far Cry and even play L4D2 a lot.

I played some of the 360 version. It has story, action, rpg elements (dialogue trees and weapon and body upgrading) in a sci-fi setting. Also stealth elements like sneaking, killing guys and dragging and hiding their bodies. I also remember tazing some guy dancing in the subway lol. biggrin

I decided to fire up this game today, and boy do I regret it! I don't know where my morning went! Damn you!!

Just "entered" the city for the first time, after doing the first mission after I "woke up." I had about 14,000 credits to my name when I finished, but does the Augmented Edition only give you 5,000 credits? That's just one Praxis point!

Anyway, I seem to like what I'm seeing here as far as "upgrades" goes. I wonder if you can upgrade the weapons as well?

Any recommendations for augmentations to get? I plan on a sniper character (love the gun!), taking guys out from afar, and with the silenced gun, I can pick them off at my leisure. That, and some Tom Clancy-styled takedowns with my augs as backup.

I started it last night and am happy that I can run it at full settings even with DX11 enabled.(Usually can't do that and still enjoy the game when it comes to others) I know it doesn't go overboard with textures and such but I'm ticked I can run it smooth at maxed out settings.

I forgot how much I liked the music. I'm still on the first mission going after the purists in the warehouse to retrieve the military tech.

I think you can upgrade weapons. I want the crossbow though cause I love stealth.

Enjoying this as well. Finished the first mission, so now I have several that I can choose to work on.

I am getting the freezing in cutscenes that people complain about, but am able to correct it, just by pressing esc, then resuming without missing anything.

Other than that minor issue, the actual gameplay is really smooth and looks nice.

Not sure what way I want to aug my guy yet. Thinking combo of stealth and hacking.

Yes, you can upgrade weapons as well (there’s even a trophy for that). If you go into your inventory and check a weapon closely you can see what kinds of upgrades are possible and available. Depending on the weapon this can be ammo increase (bigger mag), faster reload, laser pointer, silencer etc.

As for the augmentations, I found that many of them are either rather useless or just "nice to have", such as looking through walls or being able to see the FOV of enemies. They don’t really change the gameplay for me (as a side note: I’ve completed the Missing Link without a single augmentation whatsoever on my first play through).

I’m the hacking, stealthy, knocking enemies out kind of guy so I have always focused on augmentations that helped me on takedowns and hacking first. Everything thereafter I choose when need arise. I usually end up with having plenty of praxis points available. So for example, when I end up having not enough space left in my inventory but I really, really want to take that juicy weapon mod with me I go to my augmentations and choose strong back to increase my inventory slots.

Knocking enemies out from behind, hacking your way through the game, finding alternative routes and staying unnoticed all the time earns one the most experience points by the way.

And in my opinion, Detroit really just is the introduction to the game and its mechanics. For me, the game always kicks off as soon as Jenson leaves Detroit for Shanghai. That’s the moment where the game really starts to unfold for me.

Yeah, the music of this game is outstanding. It really adds to the atmosphere!

Thanks for posting about this, I would have missed it otherwise. Ł10 for the whole collection (both previous Deus Ex games) including the DLC for Human Revolutions! Great bargain. And bloody hell, is Human Revolutions fantastic or what? Very good game indeed.

Obviously the added inventory slots is good to get, as is the one that lets you fall from any height and even stun enemies below. The one that lets you attack 2 enemies at once with the melee is good, but the hacking improvements are a necessity. I stay away from the ones that put up better blocks and tell the difficulty until the much later augments. Get the ability for all levels of locks and the one that helps make you undetectable while hacking.

The main thing that bugs me about the game is how you can upgrade to several energy cells, but you still spend most of your time at just the 1 filled that always auto-fills. I wish the entire group of cells would recharge. The way it is, I don't bother with some augments that depend on the cells. On my 2nd playthrough, I think I still have just the original power cells, but with the faster recharge rate. Seems to be enough.

Check out the upcoming Dishonored if you like this one.
