It was funny watching England copying our game.

Phew, so glad Italy won; Pirlo was incredible. And with Greece and England finally dispatched, we might see offensive football instead of Catenaccio in the remaining games.

That was quite some fun.
Couldn't expect us to play that well.

Glad we won too...

biggrin

Agree absolutely that Italy deserved it, would have been a terrible robbery and injustice if they didn't win. smile Your reason for why we were screwed was bollocks though lol.....Scott Parker was one of our best players the whole tournament (Gerrard best overall) and he worked his arse off....Its not glamorous but the spade work is important, and we wouldn't have got this far otherwise.

If you want to point a figure at one or two players try Ashley "waste of fecking space" Young as I said earlier in the thread, which has nowt to do with him missing a penalty (can happen to the best)....that was just the icing on the CAKE OF FAILURE. What does he do? What is his purpose? Why does he even exist? attack He is a weakling. He has no Heart or Courage. He is a pile of steaming useless wank. The only 'consistency' in his game is that he is consistently shyte. Rooney was shyte as well tbh, though to a far lesser extent.

Not sure WTF Roy Hodgson was thinking telling the team not to press and give their best playmaker Perlo half an hour on the ball every time he got it (he ran the whole show), or why he didn't seem to be clicking that the offside trap was not working against Balloteli. Sh*t manager + Sh*t team = epic failure lol.

Can't fault them for effort though, proud of them for trying their best. Its just that the ability is not there and ye can't polish a turd....end of story.

Ah well. So it goes. Still looking forward to the semis though, will be interesting. smile

The first 20 minutes were entertaining and i realy thought they had a chance.
But then England stopped attacking for unknown reason.

And Italy seemed to think that winning means avoiding to score at all cost. It was almost like a football parody. In some cases it was much harder not to hit the goal.

And the only goal they did score during the game was offside. nope

No offense to our Italian friends, but you've got to play a lot better than today to win the next game. Well...please don't. biggrin

But, at least one football cliché once again was confirmed: England can not win at penalties. duck

At the same time, I had the impression the the English team was actually drawing out the game on purpose so that it would come to the penalties (Joe Hart's antics during the shootout seemed to confirm that). Seems they only got what they asked for.

I do not agree at all.

But opinions are like hair. Each one has their own...
