Just finished Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the umpteenth time and I gotta say, the story hasn't gotten old. Of course, I haven't played it in more than a year, so that helps.

Tremendous voice acting, fast-paced action, decent graphics even for today, it's just a really good game. I enjoyed playing it and now I'm contemplating playing Modern Warfare 2 again, just to keep it rolling. It's good yarn. And, at the end of the day, I'm a sucker for a good story.

CoD 4 is the series highlight. I have completed it multiple times on console and pc and I think it's the finest single player fps ever made (closely followed bybthe original Half Life).

I still remember after getting my soldier back on his chopper the numbness i felt when the nuke went up. awesome interactive storytelling.

I just bought the pc version myself to play again. Played the 360 version a few years ago. I love the story telling as well and the SAS characters. Though some of the missions are great in MW2, I hated where the story ended up going.

I did play CoD MW2 but I hated everything about it.. It was just a pale shadow of MW 1 that courted controversy just for the sake of sales. If finished me with the CoD franchise.

One of the few endings that tugged at my gaming heart...

(I actually felt for these characters in the end)

not as exciting as the first but anyway...

Finished the second one this morning. Probably start the third one soon. Only played it through once, anyway.

I think Black Ops is one of my favorites though. Another story that gets convaluded and left me thinking "huh? I don't get it" but I liked the period and the multiplayer in that has been my favorite COD multiplayer.

Call of Duty 3 was my least favorite, Black Ops was just weird -as you said- and I wasn't as enthused. World at War was just amazingly pretty and the voice acting was off the charts. It was Treyarch's best work.

Black Ops seemed like a rip off of a shooter from a few years ago called Black. Pretty fun game, it had that same frame story/flashback storytelling to it.

I consider them Interactive Movies...maybe that will be the next thing to hit DVD's; you have to mash buttons on the controller at certain points to continue hehe

I think that's basically what Heavy Rain was on the PS3. Sounded interesting, but haven't played it.

I'll disagree. Story in all CoD games were rather poor, pointless, and had little story and almost no character development. Gameplay wise nothing has changed since CoD 2.
