Thx. As I worked through designing and testing the missions, I was also trying to imagine a scenario in which Germany could win. Militarily, I'm in the 'Royal Navy would have wiped out the landing' camp...and I couldn't actually think of any way it would work. Then I read about Halifax and the May Cabinet crisis, when Halifax was all in favour of doing a deal. That got the 'what if' neurons firing. What if a big blunder by Churchill so weakened his position that Halifax got the upper hand in Cabinet? Germany wouldn't need to 'win', just take enough territory to get Britain to the bargaining table with Halifax on their side.

Thankfully, in this universe, it never came to that.

Ps in the Sandhurst military college war game on which this campaign was based Germany got 90,000 men ashore. To achieve that, it should be remembered the wargame rules assumed no RN intervention during the first night and day of the landing. Not likely, but they wanted to test the land war scenario.
