I downloaded three updates/patches from Gamersgate yesterday evening.
My current game version is 577 and I downloaded the following:
op_star_game_update_v580_eng_v2
k43t_apos_patch_may12_eng_v3
k43t_apos_upd_dist_taran_rakit_may12_eng.exe
I installed the v580 update (which contrary to the onscreen instructions) didn't contain any "addpack" file only various game folders. I tried the in-game update facility and there was nothing to update ergo i'm still on v577.
I then used the ingame updater to install the "addpack" files in both of the other two downloads. Nothing happened and I'm still on v577. I'm guessing that the last two patches won't work unless the game version is already updated to 580 but how the heck do I get 580 installed. I acidentally uninstalled 577 last thing before adjourning for the evening. I can re-install it if it required by a working 580 installer.
Patching this game is a real PITA, any help much appreciated.
thanks and regards
Aces

Thanks mate,
I downloaded each item and then unzipped each to a seperate new folder. The last two items used 7zip wherer the v580 installer wanted to install to the game folder but I chose another new folder and copied the files included into my game folder. The v580 didn't include any "addpack" file whereas the other two did.

Yes I had all sorts of problems yesterday, took me nigh om 9 hours to sort out. Do exactly as I did, install the file into the game folder, then seperately into any temp file of your choice. Open the updater and navigate to the temp file. Choose Core then adpack. It should start automatically. Which version of the 580 file did you download from gamers gate? I used V3.
As you know this complexity is the real problem in an otherwise fantastic game.
Good luck, I have my fingers crossed for you.

This is rediculous,
I re-installed the game and then re-downloaded both of the DLC packages. It won't let me install either package!! let alone v577 or v580 etc.. When I xclick on the addpack for either of the DLC nothing haoppens, both v577 and v580 downloads don't contain an addpack to click on and, when unpacked to both a temp folder and the main game folder nothing changes and they are not recognised. I'm running Windows 7 pro 32 bit and the game is setup to run in xp sp3 compat mode with admin rights, this is bizare!!. What a right royal PITA. If I can't get the darned thing at least back to v577 with both of the DLCs on let alone the v580 stuff then it gets un-installed tomorrow evening.

This is using updates/patches from graviteam site. 1- may 580 engine update 2- may patch. 3- district update (optional). 4- Dlcs Double click to apply may 580 engine update, When 580 engine is done updating the game updater should automatically pop up, then apply unzipped may patch, then unzipped latest district update (optional) and then dlcs if you have them. 1 double click to install. 2,3 and 4 will be installed through game updater.

thanks, appreciate your help,
I'll do another game unistall install first. I got the 577 on by copying the files into the game folder. Tried the same with 580 but the game no longer launches.
As for the DLC it won't even do anyhting when I click on the addpacks ?.
Cheers
Aces
Apologies if I sound rather peeved but this has got to be the worst ever game patching/updating system that I've ever come accross in all my years of gaming!.

Is your problem to do with the folder that the installer is pointing to? Check closely what folder your game is actually in, versus what folder the patch installer is pointing to. My previous patching problems were related to the patch installing to Program Files instead of Program Files x86.

My previous patching problems were related to the patch installing to Program Files instead of Program Files x86. Wherever possible, avoid installing the game to either Program Files or Program Files (x86). It's better to install to some other folder, drive or partition. That'll save you a lot of grief when you're updating or patching the game,
