These were pre-emptive (PET) HARM shots.
Actually one battery crew was woken up by the hit, this is why it is depicted in the SIM this way.

Were such pre-emptive HARM shots done also against Tripoli SAMs? I mean if P-15 is vulnerable to HARM in real life let it be so in SAM simulator too.

Flight spy plane SR-71 was carried out on two routes, the so-called large and small circles. Small circle, apparently so named because the turning radius was smaller than in a big circle. Spy plane SR-71 appeared with the azimuth of 240 degrees, while it is sometimes violated the air border of North Korea, then perhaps, as the program was laid on the flight, flying in a small or large circle. In a small circle of flying the SR-71 aircraft from the border was 100 - 105 miles, and it worked only reconnaissance station P-14 and altimeter PRV-17. Target height was 24 km, so the wiring was a reliable target. Altimeter PRV-17 showed a reliable target. There have been attempts to escort reconnaissance aircraft SR-71 altimeter PRV-17 and the targeting issue. But it was not an easy thing because of the fast moving targets in azimuth.

Azimut has changed very quickly, given the speed of the target, which is at detection was more than 850 m \ s, the transit time along the border was a little over two minutes.

In consequence of the construction features of the S-200V, ie, using the Doppler effect, the radial velocity of targets ranged from 850 m \ s to zero at the minimum approaching the boundary. This imposes certain difficulties when accompanied by targets for the speed, because the transition through zero speed is usually the failure to perform maintenance and repositioning objectives. Given the strong temporary deficit, it left a big psychological burden on the personnel of the operational crew.

These spy plane overflights occurred from 1980 to 1989, the most intensive flight occurred from 1986 to 1989. Looking overseas sites with memories of pilots plane SR-71, especially those who flew in Southeast Asia, revealed an interesting detail, the table with the flying spy planes over the years proved to be unfilled during those years, ie from 1980 up to half of 1989 year, although data are available before and after. The reason I do not understand. I would like to find

materials memories pilots plane SR-71 flights and motives of these personal experiences of pilots in the commission of a rather dangerous to their life events. While it is not possible, a common phrase in the spirit of national patriotism.

Who may be interested in this, I can say the following in the search engines are now being actively implemented translators pages, although the machine translation, all the same basic idea of the text is understandable, but I have translated the following pages, for some reason it is not subject to. It is possible to blame my lack of experience in this business (translation pages).

One day while working on the SR-71 aircraft when passing near the border of a large circle, when the boundary was closer to 5 to 10 km has been, there has been a fact of Gone to the speed of active interference.

Active noise ratio was two-way, the interval between the components was 1 - 1.5 kHz, the protection system is reset, but seized the following items, etc. As a result, there was a total breakdown.

But the noise was short-lived no more than 6 - 8 seconds, and after reversal with a negative rate target was perezahvachena.

Interest is the two-sidedness interference and noise components of the interval sequence which was

lower frequencies bounce more than a factor of 2.

We are at the time of this napravlentsu reported on the connection, but we do not believe that's all come to naught ...

The reason was probably in the next. In setting up a combat mission, = in violation of the state border to destroy the target, from the commanders and chiefs want that driven by the logic of combat operations, target tracking station and missiles before the breach of the state border, which is in conflict with the preservation of the parameters of the emitted signal, so to talk about it reason not to put prinyato.Hotya this procedure was necessary, the documents clearly define the order of the actions of all forces and means.

I think that now it has more historical value than practical ...

It is this incident:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siberia_Airlines_Flight_1812

Could you use SAM simulator to determine if it is even possible?

If you could provide me the altitude and coordinates where the plane was hit, than most of us would be, even without the sim.

Unfortunately only approximate location is available:

35000' - 36000', 115nm south of crimean peninsula. I am trying to but cannot find accurate coordinates.

PS: Additional info:

The crash site is some 190 km west-southwest of the Black Sea resort of Sochi and 140 km north of the Turkish coastal town of Fatsa and 350 km east-southeast of Feodosiya, Ukraine.

Googling the WEB, I found: 42°10'60.00"N and 37°37'0.00"E.

I would say it was a possible shot from the Anapa site.

But this coordinate is 230km from Sochi...
