Two models of Microsoft Surface, the 'RT' which is ARM based and the iPad competitor and the 'Pro' version which is intel i5 based (and runs proper Windows 8) and is like a ultranotebook/Macbook Air competitor.
The thing they lack is price and availability, with the last I read being that the 'RT' will be $600 come October and the Pro about $1099 come December/January. I bet the Microsoft hardware partners are loving it that Redmond has gone all Appley on them.
Specs (kind of) here:http://www.microsoft.com/global/surface/en/us/renderingassets/surfacespecsheet.pdf
It could go Zune like or Xbox like and really depends on how well Windows 8 will be received or not.
Pros: The Pro model runs windows, although 'not a decent laptop, not a decent tablet' is the danger
Cons: Less resolution than an iPad, less battery, more heat and for the RT, less apps.
Good to see some competition whatever happens. Apple's margins (they beat their component vendors pretty hard) have some flex in them, so perhaps a Christmas price cut..
