http://www.universetoday.com/95870/could-mirror-neutrons-account-for-unobservable-dark-matter/Could mirror universes or parallel worlds account for dark matter — the ‘missing’ matter in the Universe? In what seems to be mixing of science and science fiction, a new paper by a team of theoretical physicists hypothesizes the existence of mirror particles as a possible candidate for dark matter. An anomaly observed in the behavior of ordinary particles that appear to oscillate in and out of existence could be from a “hypothetical parallel world consisting of mirror particles,” says a press release from Springer. “Each neutron would have the ability to transition into its invisible mirror twin, and back, oscillating from one world to the other.”
This isn’t the first time the existence of mirror matter has been suggested and has been predicted to be sensitive to the presence of magnetic field such as Earth’s.
“The discovery of a parallel world via … oscillation and of a mirror magnetic back-ground at the Earth, striking in itself, would give crucial information on the accumulation the of dark matter in the solar system and in the Earth, due to its interaction with normal matter, with far reaching implications for physics of the sun and even for geophysics,” the team writes in their paper. Fringe was right?

If we see Leonard Nimoy sporting a goatee soon, then we'll know there is a mirror universe.

If we see Leonard Nimoy sporting a goatee soon, then we'll know there is a mirror universe. Imo, One of the best episodes of that series. Wheels

Missing matter = failed stars and rouge planets + filaments. No need for magical dark matter. But, if the study gets some scientists some food on the table and fame, that's their choice. :-)

Doesnt Stargate Command have a Mirror that allows them to jump between parallel universes?

Doesnt Stargate Command have a Mirror that allows them to jump between parallel universes? Dunno, but Morgan Freeman certainly does. Saw it on the telly, with me own eyes! I had mad respect for him anyway, but thanks to the Discovery channel I now learn he has the power to traverse Time and Space, and visit "other dimensions" through "wormholes*", and sh*t. Can this bloke even get any more apocalyptically awesome? Hes the dogs bollocks. Morgan Freeman for Pope. He probably already is, come to think of it.....Star-Pope of the known Multi-verses, A long time ago, in another Multi-alternative-verse- dimension-thingy, far, far away......I for one welcome our new Celebrity Alternative-Multiverse Star-Pope overlords, and I beseech you to do the same. * Or was it 'cakeholes'? I might be getting a bit confused again...its been a long day.
