You are right Lieste. One was lost outside the ship in a meteor storm I think, the other got run over by Dern in a buggy.

And if you look closely you'll notice that the font used for the numbers on the robots looks just like the font used for the different levels at the atmosphere processing plant in "Aliens".

3 robots! Huey, Dewey and Louie! (iibc, someone said they were the template for Lucas creating R2D2?) I want to get this film on Blu-ray if it is ever released in North America. AFAICT, the only blu-ray available it region B locked and that was released last December(?). Has anyone seen an region-free or region A blu-ray of SR? (i should breakdown and buy a region-free BR player)

It's up on Youtube as well... I was looking for the Joan Baez theme, and stumbled on it... I also rediscovered Dark Star ~ which I'm buffering now, but if it is the one I think it is... it's pretty fun.

"Dark Star" is a cult classic. It was John Carpenter's directorial debut.

Good to hear about the OPPO unit being a solid performer. I found a shop near Chicago that sells Region-free players so I will take a look at what they carry. For some reason I thought Amazon UK did not ship to North America, but then reversed that decision recently? I will have to check that out, too! anyway...I remember seeing SR a few years ago and I enjoyed it at the time. SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! IIRC, the spaceships were moving away from the sun? if so, that doesn't make sense...

Little bit of trivia: The botany ship from "Silent Running" was included in the surviving colonial fleet for the new Battlestar Galactica series.
