I held out for the longest time but have finally bitten the bullet. I was thinking of adding some of the names listed in the sticky above but I wanted to check to see if there were any guidelines. In other multi games SimHQ has a sticky for 'this is how we do things' does anything like this exist for BF3/SimHQ?

No, not really... since we don't have our own PC server anymore... can't enforce rules... basic rules apply to all SimHQ members when they play together. Play the objectives, play with basic tactics, play as a team... Tactics and Teamwork.

Is anyone using comms? For me so far there is to much stuff on the screen and I find it difficult to figure out what the heck is going on. Pretty much I've learned to stay out of the open and flashing objectives are changing (i know noob right). The squad icons are green but every squad ive been on so far just goes there own way. Conquest is my favorite map type...that i know.

SimHQ has a Teamspeak server or you can create
a party in Battlelog.

Tactics vs n00bs = mad n00bs.

its so much fun when a 3 or 4 man squad from SimHQ can get on a server, play tactics and walk out with 15-30,000 points a round.

If you're going to play BF3, Kelen, you cannot go wrong with these guys. Invite them as friends and when they're in a game, get in the game with them and switch squads until you're playing with them.

Is it possible to switch teams?

I was on a game the other night with a few SHQ members but I was on the other team and could never seem to find a way to do more than be killed by them biggrin and I admit with so much going on I have no time to look at the chat text so if anyone said anything to me and got no response, that was why, I checked TS and didn't see anyone on either.

BTW I played BF3 for about 14h that first week or two after initial release and parked it, but it sure is fun to get back to it now, having a lot of fun even being a noob amongst all the high ranking players.

i think you played vs me and my brother for a round, and I had to go after that round, he stayed on, i saw your message in the chatbox near the end, and replied, but i usually never look at the box, because its almost always not anything to do with the game.

from the deplay screen, press ESC, goto Squad and Team, click switch team, press ok.

some servers dont allow team switching, some servers may even boot/ban for it (depending on score.)

i need to setup team speak on my brother's system and my new one, we usually just use the party function on battle log.

Dude, just play at your own pace. Play when you feel like it and when you enjoy it!
that's all! Ignore the people who are only in it for points and stats, I rather play
with a motivated level 1 'noob' than with an arrogant level 50 number crusher!

Ah cool, yeah you were on and BladeHD I think which I'm guessing may be your brother, your team was whooping us pretty bad since most on my team were not really trying to control the docks or working as groups, thanks for the info on how to switch teams, for some reason I didn't seem to be able to but I will try next time.

Yeah I'm no tactical genius either and a relative noob at BF3, the main thing to do when on a pub server by yourself is just try to stick together around other teammates, some of them seem to be pretty clueless about working together and just treat it like deathmatch but if you stick around them at least they might flush out enemy shooters for you or help kill the enemy if they start shooting you.

Other than that just focus on team goals and control of the map, that seems to be the most effective thing.

I tend to play mostly Assault (medic) to keep the team healed and revive when it makes sense, or I switch to engineer when there's enemy armor dominating, both of those classes seem pretty good to learn the game.

BlueFlameHD

i think after I left, you kept killing him, lol, he'd get 2 guys then you'd get him almost everytime.

that last few rounds i played, the team you were on was trying to camp, in TDM, Camping = Death. The maps are too small to camp on, you got at least 8-12 players for the other team running around, with random spawns, which means they can literally (and I have on several occasions been on both ends of this) spawn next to an enemy player giving the spawned player an advantage.

People that set Spawn beacons in TDM are either trying to land on a roof or top of a crane, or just planting a dedicated point for his entire squad to spawn to make it easier to stay together. snipers that camp on the corners of the maps are easy targets.

one round, we had 4 squads, and each squad literally had a spawn beacon hidden in the back corner of the map. so we always spawned under cover and together.

Team Deathmatch is just a simple running gunfight, correct? Whoever gets to a certain number of kills first wins the match...

Cool that was him alright, he got me his share of times too biggrin

I didn't really know how the Spawn beacons work yet, but I pretty much figured out which areas the other team seemed to be coming from and I started patrolling it and trying to get the drop on you guys from a direction that most of my teammates were not coming from... good fun while learning.

Looking forward to getting on the same squad sometime soon.

If you're new to BF3, you'll need to be tolerant of the large number of cheaters that are about. PunkBuster appears to be completely ineffectual in identifying these players. What you'll mainly see is a lot of single-shot kills (from ludicrous distances), and invulnerability; The best I saw was the other day on Scrapmetal. One guy was running along the front of a building. He was approaching a player who was shooting him. He was pursued by a player who was shooting him. And I was shooting him from the opposite building. He took so much damage he should have been blown to bits, but still he kept on running! That UK server was rife with this type of thing AND was supposedly running PinkBuster. I've frequently been killed by an apparently invulnerable soldier and then seen in death-cam that they are on 0% health and still fully active, no attempt at healing or any character yelling about being chewed up, etc. More often, you'll shoot someone, see the hits making them waver, but after they then turn around and do you in with a single shot, you'll see they are on 100% health. It's actually really getting on my tits lately as it seems to be on the rise. I can't wait for Arma3.

^ this is why I play on my own server with people I know and kick out players that are obviously cheating (or are really good. Its a junior varsity server smile )

smile I'm coming up on 300 hours of playing BF3 now and the one thing that bugs me the most about the game are the people on the forums that complain about cheating.

JUST FIND A BETTER SERVER!!!

That's just my guess since I play on all sorts of good random servers (8 – 24 players) and don't seem to have a problem with cheaters.

Maybe they're cheating because they're not so good at the game, and I have no knowledge of them because I'm killing them so effortlessly smile

Looking forward to this weekend's double XP for Premium event ...
