What annoys me is I reckon a lot of developers probably decided not to dip into WW2 simulation over the past couple of years because they figured Maddox Games would fill that void.
Yes, I suspect that this must be absolutely true. With the Big Dog preparing to
roll out another blockbuster, the competition must have been quite intimidated.
Now, however, things must look relatively bright on that front.
But that raises a question I wonder about a lot: is the attraction of WWII air power
enduring, or will it fade with the aging of the demographic that grew up in the
recent aftermath of WWII, when the propaganda was still shining in full glory on
those iconic machines and heroic deeds? I know I'm a victim of this, I have warm
fuzzy feelings toward those old machines, while modern jets just leave me cold. I'm
sure it's tied up with the whole early childhood exposure - running out the door
whenever a mosquito flew over was a matter of course, just to admire the machine and
soak in the sound of the merlins. I don't expect there's anything like that sort of
emotional pull being experienced by younger folk.
On the other hand, it seems there may be a market for simulators for any activity
known to man:
