As promised elsewhere on this forum, I am conducting a mini review of the new Aerosim 787 for FSX, the first FSX 787 with a working VC. I conducted a fairly simple flight today, from Singapore Changi to Hong Kong Kai Tak. I was using live weather, so I did not get the IGS Runway 13 approach, sorry to dissapoint. At the moment, there do not appear to be too many repaints out there, so I used a very nice ANA (All Nippon Airways) repaint. So, a quick review:
This aircraft is indeed a "light sim"; in the calibre of the CLS 747. You can still use the FMC, and it's very simple to use. The cockpit looks "factory fresh", but I would expect this with a 787 any way. I did not use the FMS or the SID's and STARS for this review, as I am somewhat limited on time these days. Anyway, aside from that, frame rates are excellent in all cases, and there is no problems with texture loss, even on my modest computer. There does however appear to be a few texture tears in the cockpit, but they are minor, and I quickly learned to ignore them.
The sounds appear to be accurate, and are not done to a deafening level. I have read on another site that this aircraft "flies like a fighter". I certainly did not find that; in fact, I was a little late in my turn to finals (as my screenshots will show). The aircraft feels heavy, and yet docile in the air. My only criticism is the pitch trim; seems far too sensitive, you only need a tiny amount for take off, or else you will stall her.
Expensive? Yes, but in my view, worth the money, especially if you are limited on time like me, and do not have a spare hour just to get the systems going. No editing used, all shots taken directly out of the sim at a resolution of 1920x1080 32 bit colour.
