Watch yer butts. Apparently this new update has some zombie spawning issues, especially at deerstands. Might hold off on the update for a bit till there's a report by the devs on this.

I just installed the 1.7.1 version and my 18-day char that I logged off safely yesterday evening spawned on the beach with all equipment lost and stats erased.

Me not happy.

Unfortunately, that happens with the mod updates. Stashes are gone. Vehicles that were repaired and hidden are gone, etc.

I like this addition:
* [NEW] Heartbeat when cursor on a player with very low humanity (heart beats faster the lower it is)

I announced that I was friendly a couple times yesterday when another survivor entered a building, only to be immediately killed afterwards. That is sick because I had the drop on them and let them go. This will allow you to IFF other survivors to determine if they are bandits. It makes me want to go bandit hunting today. The conundrum is by doing that, I become a bandit too.

Ouch !

Restarting over atm the moment sounds like a bad time, think i will hold off on 1.71 for a bit :}
On that note the entire game at this point for me has been more about finding folks to game with and learning the game skills that will be needed in the future.
Camps and cars are a server burp from being gone so the personal team building has been my focus , well that and learning the map :}

Really tense is my description in this new update.
I got killed a few time right off the bat. Wasn't being super stealthy & got wacked once I realised I didn't have a gun. You really got to watch the eyeball symbol. So when I respawned the Fourth time by some harbor I sneaked all the way to the tracks, popped up to spot where the Zeds were & I got spotted. I took off running like a little girl & ran into a multi level building. They started to fan out inside & found some gear here & there but still no weapon. Got to the roof & I got spotted again by the Zeds & they come into the building again. After about 10 minutes of cat & mouse I slip away only to suprise another by popping up again to check my surroundings and One hit & I was on the ground.

I like the changes, it makes it tense, but you are at a huge disadvantage starting out now.

I think that is the point. One more reason to NOT DIE. As it was in 1.7 I never cared if I died since it is so easy to find weapons and gear. With this new patch... I really dont want to die lol.

According to the DayZ news feed, there should be a hotfix sometime later today (Sunday) to address Line-of-sight and zombie/loot spawning. Think I'll hold off updating til then.

The race is in rainout so i pulled the trigger and went 1.71.

I used the six launcher and picked a 1.71 server and crossed my fingers. It updated ok and i found myself where i stopped saturday with all my stuff, YAY !

Went to 4 servers checking to make sure it was working ok and i noticed the player killed notices were steady. I am on a great spot on water away from everything waiting for a rabbit to run by and watching the clock, 22 minuets and 20 player deaths !

To say its changed my play style is an understatement.

I expect a hotfix soon with a change to the zeds and can only hope my gear gets saved after that. Now trying to use the shovel to dig a underground shelter to hide in :}

Now its been 28 minuets with 29 deaths, omg !

Good to hear your character was saved. Crossing my fingers and hoping that holds through the hotfix with mine. I haven't pulled the trigger on 1.7.1 yet, but the number of 7.0 servers with the proper beta patch are dwindling, including our usual haunt.

I spent most of the morning running from zed and experimenting with stealth. I spawned near the airfield close to the coast last time. I was able to sneak past the Army tent camp and I deperately wanted to check the guard towers for an automatic, but I would have died trying. There were Army sentrys all over the place and all I had was a flashlight, a bandage and some pain killers. I found a Winchester in one of the hangers at the airfield. Also, an MP5, but there was no ammo for it. I checked out the ATC tower and there were two dead survivors (bandits?) inside. One of them had an AK and an extra 30 round mag, but I opted for the Winchester for now since the ammo is probably more plentiful in the cities.

It is definitely more intense spawning without a weapon. It seems like people are coooperating more now to try and survive... at least initially.

Ok on atm on our reg server version 1.71 with the six launcher and waiting for a zed hotfix.

Its 4pm ingame time so it might be on a different night cycle now, lots of clouds and a good chance of rain, come help me build a fort :}

most of the deaths you see are actually the same few players trying to get the game to spawn them where they want. If it does not they hit respawn and *player x was killed*

I tried playing some but I get booted with battleye errors or whatever it is called. I got some work done instead so now I can have a relaxing day in the park tomorrow hick

Yesterday I watched the beginners tutorial and found out how to use the backpack ... I've been playing for weeks with just stuff in my pockets. I don't know what's more stupid, the gear interface or I duh

You may need to update the ArmA2 Beta. I think it's at version 93825 at the moment. The inventory system/backpack is kind of confusing.

You might contact the mod in some cases I've read where they can re-instate your inventory. I kept all my stuff after the update but I've had issues where I spawned in different locations from where I logged out.

Yep. Zombies are now manageable.
