Not some fancy assault rifle, but I grabbed a Henry lever action .22 long rifle for my son and I to go plinking at the range with.

A pic I stole of the same model from the webs:

The great:

Rock solid action. This is going to last a really, really long time and fire without fail.
Grouping is as good as it gets at 150 yards - I'm inside a dime with open sights from kneeling supported position.
.22 LR is dirt cheap ammo.

The okay:

I need to adjust the sights. I'm firing low and left consistently and had to adjust my aim point by quite a bit. Adjusting them is a PITA and not user friendly.
It sure does get hot - fire too quickly and it warms up the foregrip quite a bit.
Learning proper technique for using a lever action without disrupting stance and sight takes time.

But what a honey of a rifle.

Very nice. I'm sure you and your son are going to have many years of use and great memories.

Start a family tradition of passing it from father to son.

Love those Henry repeaters..

Kai's first gun might be the Henry single shot:

From there I'll get him into my Marlin .22 Papoose (semi-auto)..

Fun times ahead!

We expect a range report with photos!

Very nice! I love the lever actions. A Golden Boy .22 is on my (rather long winkngrin ) to-get list.

Oh NICE. What did that cost? One of these days I need to get a new .22. Had the same Marlin 60ss forever now. Everytime I do the, I need a new pliker I end with something big. Last time was a 12 gauge....ugh. Ok I like it, but I still need a new fun .22. biggrin

Actually that always happens to me. rofl

Wanted a saiga .308 to go with my .223. 1st time I ended with a Tuarus OSS (I dont care what people say about Tuarus......that OSS is my fav pistol hands down. Of course they get something right then take it out of production right away). 2nd time ended up with a berreta cx4 storm....you know when its the rainy season and you want a fun gun for indoor ranges. Its great for that BTW. Balances perfect quarter sized groups off hand and 25 yards.

and i still dont have a saiga .308..........lol

Nice! 10 bucks worth of ammo and a pile of empty cans will bring hours of enjoyment.
