How different 1C has become from the IL-2 days.

When ROF was released there was a very unhappy contingent of the forum users as ROF was also released unfinished. Certainly not as unfinished as COD. Three years later ROF is rounding out to be one of the best flight sims on the market, and the unhappy contingent have forgot all about the unfinished released. As long as the bean counters are willing to finance COD there is still hope it could happen here too.

Perhaps, but ever since Jason took over, there has been a vision, and communication on how they plan on achieving that vision to the product they released. 1C has a vision, but it has nothing to do with what they tricked us into buying, and are focused on other projects.

They certainly aren't focusing on other products. They are focusing on the game engine which will make COD better, and make any future products like the Sequel and MMO's possible. In the mean time it would be stupid to not have the map makers, mission makers, aircraft makers busy making content for the Sequels/MMO's while others are working on the game engine and universal features.

ROF has their game engine working and they know to a good degree what content they can deliver with that engine, so they can be more precise and confident with their updates. The COD team are still working on the game engine so they would only be guessing on what they can achieve with it. I don't blame the COD developers for being tight lipped at the moment, they involved the community on what they're trying to achieve for years, with no promises made, and have been burnt at the stake ever since. (IF) the game engine gets fixed, you will probably see better more confident updates.

You speak like you know for sure. Unless you are on the dev team you don't know.

They seem to be focusing on BoM, since that is all they have shown in months. CoD will likely only get what is spillover from BoM development, which is likely why CoD patches are taking so long.

You also forget the engine for ROF was far from perfect at release, but that dev team focused on their problems, instead of attempting tI break into the highly competitive MMO market.

Thats one of the reasons i was impressed with Jason, upfront and honest, plus taking one the problems one at a time and getting them fixed while adding content and improvements at the same time. Yes it took time but you could see a vision and track the progress.

Also professional and entertaining updates in a timely manner.

You can't show a screenshot of code optimizations especially ones not completed yet, so they show screenshots of some work done on the Sequel. Fully knowing there will be a few people who will say OMG they stopped work on COD.

It should be obvious to most people here, that all Sequels are just another map, aircraft, and campaigns. The bulk of the code, is the game engine which includes the Graphics engine, AI, Commands, FM, DM, Clouds, Weather Systems, plus many other features. Maybe 40% of the development team are working on the Sequels maps, campaigns, and aircraft. 60% of the development team are working on and optimizing the game engine code, AI, Commands, FM, DM, Graphic engine, and features that will directly effect COD and every Sequel made. COD doesn't need another map, aircraft, or campaigns. If the game engine is fixed the community will be able to build large formation BOB campaigns, and adjust the COD map where required, or it will be changed with additions to existing graphic engine {like clouds and water} by the developer. Most of the content and work to develop MMO's will be taken from existing sims like COD and its Sequels.

To say the work on COD has stopped and they have shifted focus exclusively to the Sequels and/or MMO is a ridicules notion. There won't be a Sequel or an MMO unless they fix the game engine, and it makes sense to test these fixes thru COD patches. They may hold back some features to entice people to buy the Sequel, so they can add them to their COD install. BUT the developer knows full well there will be very few sales of the Sequel unless the game engine is fixed, and shown fixed by patches to COD and/or sequel user feedback.

If your refering to me I forgot nothing. Re-read my post where I mention that ROF was released unfinished, just not as unfinished as COD. MMO's are just a server filled with content already built from COD and its Sequels. Again the bulk of the developers work at the moment is finishing the game engine, which effects everything including COD. Why is that so hard to understand.

Do you mean those last 2 coders that did not run away?
