Ok, I have created probably around 25 hours of content. I am way over my head on testing this thing alone. I have my open beta 2 version of mod and missions done. I was going to release it tomorrow but I may just go ahead and do it tonight as it is more or less done. PLease, can ANYONE commit to playing the thing this weekend and reporting back issues????? I still have not been able to test Dysopia V1.1 beta from months ago as well. So what needs to get tested and report upon is campaigns Dystopia V1.1 Beta, Mardga 2.0 Expert, and the best one of the lot, The Road. Mini mod appears to be vary stable and only missing last minute tweeks to textures and proper text and localization of said text. Oh and .50cal is not done but it works vary well (no propper text, and wrong models displayed when it is broken down and moved).

I REALLY need the help here. winkngrin Need to get these missions tested and any issues fixed vary soon. Still need to finish .50cal and figure out what is going on with F5E.

Need to make this workie.....

Last bit of this version of mini mod. A vary big part of The Road campaign........alas missing currently. darkcloud

I am going to take this thing for a quick spin and then post up the link here in an hour or so.

Thanks guys.... It is a huge help.

I will probably go ahead and get the weapons for F5e done and there configs writen this weekend. MK82 and hydra rockets for sure. Maybe mk82 snake eye bomb as well. Need to explore if even rigging up sidewiders is worth it. As of now in SABOW the best you do against an air craft is deal enough damage that it flys off screen. But working aa missles would give Iran faction something better than just .50 mgs against air power. If they would even engage which I do not think is implented........but the basics of it are there.

OK current issues I am not to happy with.

AIr supports currently seem to be next to useless. Unsure how to deal with that.

The experimental AT team I made for Iran side can be VARY evil. Feed back on that one would be nice. May need to tone that one down.

As the placement of troops by the ai is up to them (I can only influence where they will place themselves), you may get lucky on a battle where they did a really bad job or just the reverse........

I am concerned that players may not know how to properly use the on screen mortar section in The Road. They of course will fire on anything they have LOS on but if you use either arty spotter or commander of that platoon, you can set fire missions with the suppression command. Doing so if often many times more effective than off screen arty supports.

Currently have a few squads in supply platoon set up as reinforcements for other squads. Like a conscript platoon, but in the supply section. This may cause confusion. Feed back on this feature as to good or bad would be great.

Ok, the first few turns with the experimental AT unit did a vary good job of kicking my teeth in a few times. However later in more open ground they where far less effective. So I will probably leave them as is.

Ugh I put to many Hinds in supports. Was hoping they would do something useful........well at one point had a total of 6 on screen at once (this is funny because historically at this point in the war Iraq only had a total of 6 of them) Only 1 of the six even fired its weapons. Need to figure out WTF is causing the air supports to be useless. Or just see what happens after patch.

Mission needs more replacements. Non issue with historical off.......im testing it on. You loose alot of infantry and bmps in this one.

Need to look into seeing if making custom weather is possible......the defaults are not quite what I am after.

Cant wait to hear back from people testing.......and be critical.

Just did some extensive testing with my energa rifle grenade. Ok something changed between when I fisrt made the thing and march beta 2 patch. The good news......it still works. The bad news, it does some wonky stuff when rendered now. Seems to not get rendered till its fired. It appears to fly sideways??? Used export settings for my helmet (had it set up wonky). AND it is not does not report ammo correctly on menu...this I have known about sence march beta patch. Hmmm will see what happens after next patch.

Hi Flashburn. I put some time into the Mardga mission on Friday.

I had to put your mod below the patch in the updater or I got a 001 crash on any mission. Maybe I've got something wrong with the patch? Or is that correct?

Played a few turns and had no problems as far as I could tell. I really don't play very well but thoroughly enjoyed the encounters, especially fighting with the encircled platoon when they get attacked.

I haven't managed to get contact with them yet (if they survive that long).

So far so good.

Thanks for all your efforts. I don't know how you do it!

Thats intersting as far as mod below patch???? Hmmmm Well for that mission should not cause any issues. biggrin The 001 is worry some. Ill have to test it out more with my untouched install. =)

Ya Mardga 2.0 expert should be a pretty different change of pace =). I cant remember is I got rid of all the ??? on flags yet or not. If you see any please let me know. Oh and balancing issues as well....if any. Also are you playing with historical on or off? ON is alot more difficult.

#1 survival tip..... be turned out when not under fire, use binos alot, and scan scan scan. Well unless its dark.........then just scan scan scan.

OH! Also the reinfored BMP1 platoons with the t62. Good or Bad? I use 3 of those in The road as well as 3 pure tank and 2 or 3 plain jane bmp. Cant keep my unit structures in my head straight any more. Personally I like it but looking for the feed back on that one.

and thanks. Vary Vary helpful.

Didn't see any ???'s that I remember. I played historical on and suffered enough attrition to wonder how far forward I might get. I think you've got the balance OK though.

Definitely like the T62 in with the BMP's. Good to see what they actually do and look like in-game!

I may get another chance to play tomorrow. Thanks!

Ya I need to make yet another unit for mini mod............soviet reinforcement guys aka conscripts for this mission. On my to do list allready biggrin But as far as vehicles go........well with historical on.......thats what makes it expert. rofl But with it off there SHOULD be enough stuff to get thru the mission unless you totally mess up. Also need to update text to reflect that and let player know before they start. Ok get to updating all that this week.

Personally I took The Road for a spin. Gotten 10 out of 13 turns in. I got it right for the most part thru turns 1 - 8. This Will BE A GOOD mission when I complete it. Might be my best so far.......when done. Updating small issues with the mini mod part tonight and probably fix the small errors I made in it as well in mission design. They really are small......I think only I would ever know. =). Oh and I am going to try my hand at custom weather for this one....that should be intereting.

Ok rifle greandes no longer render on rifle before being fired and report ammo wrong. This has been the case since march beta 2 patch. Hopefully gets fixed in next patch. But the rifle grenades now render when fired correctly.......dont get fired sideways anymore. Will have that fix in next beta version. For some wierd reasons muzzle flashes happen in the middle of my g3a3. Unsure why as yet as it appears to be set up correct, but works perfect other than that.

Oh my I allready added that blurb about skill settings in mardga 2.0. Ugh...I thought I had done that to The Road. Can not keep campaigns I am working on straigth in my head. Never work on 3 campaigns at once.....lol.

Ok fixed small issues with The Road camapign....they are vary small indeed and added in iranian air spotters. Have it set up to call in south africian impalas rofl Hopefully have last issues with f5 sorted out by next weekend. Along with some custom weather I hope.

And major thank you to Vitesse, the only one so far that has given any feed back so far.

Well attempting a bit of custom weather now. Did something to cfg files.....no idea what does what but I made my best guess at what is right.

Hey again Flashburn,

I've played a few more turns and really impressed with the gameplay.

Because of the T62 mixed in I got to play with the isolated platoon as they defended their position. My tank got surrounded and disabled so the two surviving crew surrendered (nice touch) but I was able to watch the rest of the action. I decided to call in the air support and sat back to watch. The battle ended as a surprise major victory but best was the atmosphere of the firefight and seeing those Migs lay down the hurt.

I've just finished an assault against a large group of enemy around Marjah and am ready to turn south and clean up around Mardga. Well, that's the plan.

I can't get over how this game keeps springing surprises. I've never seen tank crews dismount and surrender before. They stayed surrendered even when friendly units were all around them, mind!

I have been playing and messing with SABOW awhile now (apos as well).......it still suprises me. Rarely will the same thing happen twice. Well please let me know how things go with mission and any suggestions for improvement. Be warned.......the further West you go the stiffer the resistance. biggrin For final version I may put a little blurb in briefing about a slim possiblity of slipping out east from being surrounded. In the end it is up to the AI if you can pull it off. When the eastern afgan defense get engaged by main body of Soveit assualt the ai *may* decide to send forces to help defend. you have enough fuel to maybe make it to your lines if main body makes enough head way. But all that is a major if.

The migs engaged target for you?! Thats great......they rarly do anything useful for me for some wierd reason. Maybe drop a bomb and fly in circles. LOL. Andrey said air supports get worked on in next beta patch btw.

Oh ifyou are up for it once you are done with Mardga 2.0 want to try my newest version of The Road? Still working it up now. But it should be the last version. Well unless new features of sabow editor require me to over haul the thing. But probably will take a little time to get up to speed on new editor scripting functions and what they do/what is possible. AND ugh........finish freaken playable m113....finally.

I called a halt to the Mardga offensive and sorted out the mod/patch problem. Turns out the beta patch offered on the Graviteam site was not the latest (more likely I picked up the wrong one). I found the one you'd put up and no problem now. Means I've probably missed some content in that camapaign?

I tried The Road next - played a couple of turns and found the air support was pretty poor as you said (looks like you are fixing it though). No problems encountered and with the mixed platoons I've been able to spot the new helmet and rifle you'd built. Looks very good.

I've pushed Eastwards with the recon units and got them pretty mauled so my tank crews are earning their pay!

Edit I did find a couple of small typos in the campaign screen description and there was not room for all the text so it finishes mid-sentence.

No you did not miss much in Mardga with wrong beta........Does explain why air supports worked for you. That is an issue with current patch. The text getting cut off was a non issue (note was) because there will be a large dialog box for text in future patches. But it only cut off part of one sentance. All you missed was a lot of people got killed the end...lol.

Wait till you find the .50 cals. If you get unlucky they chew up BMP's pretty well. biggrin

Roger on the typos......wrote alot of that text vary sleep deprived. Ill fix it up soon.

I may see if I can throw a temp fix at the air support issue untill next Graviteam patch. No idea if it will work, but worth a shot.

Also have a newer version of mission if interested. Quite a few small fixes but basicly the same thing. What can I say.....perfectionist <-------- on this one. Biggest difference is stand in iran air support. Using SA impalas in place of F5 which still is not quite none. SO CLOSE though. Just keep doing other things while I should be finishing it.

on mardga any issues or things I could make better?

Mardga is something I've probably played too much... Once you reach the platoon there's not much more to the mission - as you say you can go on and hit the stronger enemy to the west., but they tend to be more of the same you've already faced. I know that's a reflection of the forces involved historically. Maybe I'm missing something?

I do know I've had plenty of seriously good sim moments playing through that campaign.

Yes killing lots of infantry gets old....

[spoiler] dug in AT guns on high ground [spoiler]

You have no idea how much I wish there was a beat up pickup with heavy weapons on it for this mission. Would not stand a chance BUT flaming compact pickups flying thru the air would keep you from getting too bored.

Still for final version that is good feedback. Will consider droppping out some of the end of mission and making it a little shorter. On 2nd thought I will do that. Should offer 3 different senarios of dis-simular combat problems. 1. cut off guys
2. assualt an OBJ on flat ground 3. assualt an OBJ on inferior ground. Damnit where are my SUN-TZU quotes....

Been thinking about this more. Your right. Focus of mission should be saving Pvt. Ivan. rofl LOL I served with a guy from Russia orginally who wanted to be called Ivan. Well he was not a pvt...oh whatever.

Ok going to modify mission. Focus will become cut off recon platoon and assualting threw lines. Reduce turn numbers down to somewhere between 6 and 8. Still need to come up with a good point system for vic/defeat.

Thanks for input on this.
