Just got my beta key today. WOW, this game is really fun. I hope they expand on it a lot though before it gets to release since it does not have tons of re-playability.

Glad to hear your enjoying this game, I don't know to much about it but I wish the developers all the success possible.

However I must confess to being slightly bewildered by the up take for this game on kick starter as opposed to Torch ships. IMHO the game doesn't look nearly as interesting as Torch ships, yet it's been pledged $200000 with an original target of just $10000. Yet Torchships has barely got 20% of its target of just $40000 with only 3 days to go.

Maybe the developer of Torchships should get in touch with the FTL guys and copy their strategy. Sorry if this comes across as me having a downer on FTL's success, far from it as I do like to see the little guys win through, I guess I'm just frustrated by the lack of take up for torch ships as I could really see that being my type of game. I guess I must be in the minority though because even the thread here has only had 3 posts ( 2 of them being my own ).

Sorry also for the thread high jack duh

FTL is nothing like torchships. It is a simple Rogue like game where as TorchShips is more of a sim mascaraing as a game. People dont particularly want to pay for sims these days but a simple fun cartoon based rogue like...

Life sure isnt fair but honestly FTL is a fun and good game that deserved to be made. I am sure TorchShips is as well.

I think one of the major advantages FTL has over Torchships is the amount of exposure it received.

Yeah maybe so, it seems like a fairly short gestation period for its kickstarter debut. I hope that enough people that arrive late to the party show the developer that with sufficent publicity he would get a whole lot more people signing up.

I also hope that the developer thinks the $10,000 already pledeged is enough to continue the development of what looks like a pretty well advanced game engine.

Cheers
