Properly for the Bomber Command job during the BoB it would have to be Blenheim, Battle, Wellington, Hampden or Whitley.



The principle BC BoB missions were raids against the assembled barges, air bases, fuel supplies, aircraft factories.

I believe it is a fact that more BC aircrew were killed than fighter aircrew in the battle, but the contribution of Bomber Command, like that of the Navy is very often forgotten.

Yep, it would be nice to see any one or all of those flying again. It was a pity the BBMF did not invite privately owned British WWII aircraft involved in the fly past. That would have made the Queen smile.

I actually saw a Spitfire like this at an Airshow many years ago.
I was told, why it looked the way it did.
Told of it's pedigree lineage.
Told of the honourable task it performed.

I thought, well it looked like a Spit.
It certainly sounded like a Spit.
It even flow it a Spit.

But I just couldn't get passed that it still looked like a Painted Tart to me....
