For the 2nd time in as many sessiions, computer has BSOD. It hangs for a,min, the picture on each monitor disappears sequentially, then,BSOD appears, but doesn't stay onscreen long enough for me to read and retain the info. Is there a way to freeze that screen, retain the info upon reboot, or take a screen shot? I am primarily interested in determining if it's GPU related, whichmwouldmpretty much make me decide to RMA the cards. The commuter hadn't been on for very long, it was during the evening when temps we cooler, GPU temps were in the 50s, and I was only wokring in MS Word. Tonight it BSOD immediately after I pressed the Show Desktop button in the lower right taskbar, as if my comp freaked at processing such a task.

yes to get the BSOD to stay onscreen do this:

Goto Control Panel // System // System Protection // Advanced tab under system properties // Startup and Recovery, Settings // Uncheck Automatically restart..

have it checked to save mini dump file, which will tell you which driver / fault caused it.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263

You can also goto Control panel, Admin Tools, Event Viewer, System. From there look for a Red Icon/Save Dump/Critical Error, and it should say "xxxxxxxx xxxx x x x caused a critical error"

Interestingly my system has started doing the exact same thing in about the last 6 weeks. It's 100% stable under every load and stress test I've tried but randomly has a BSOD in the graphics driver when sitting idle. Waiting for a reply now from XFX re: exchanging the card.

Before you RMA I would recommend getting Memtest86 and letting it run at least 6-12 hours. You could have a stick of RAM dying, which can cause all kinds of random problems.

This may (or may not) be of some help too: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Quote:
"BlueScreenView scans all your minidump files created during 'blue screen of death' crashes, and displays the information about all crashes in one table. For each crash, BlueScreenView displays the minidump filename, the date/time of the crash, the basic crash information displayed in the blue screen (Bug Check Code and 4 parameters), and the details of the driver or module that possibly caused the crash (filename, product name, file description, and file version).
For each crash displayed in the upper pane, you can view the details of the device drivers loaded during the crash in the lower pane. BlueScreenView also mark the drivers that their addresses found in the crash stack, so you can easily locate the suspected drivers that possibly caused the crash."
