I must have fouled up the direct set.If I had done it correctly the planes should show up when I view them,When ET001 shows up in the top of the box ,I double click it but T can't seem to be able to cut and paste it. If I could do this, what is the root folder. Sorry for my problems.but thanks again.Dimwit

OK.
Please just confirm for me that the following are in the root folder
The DirSets folder which contains a file named "ETO01"
The ETO_01 folder
The Planes folder
The DirSetPicker.exe

Also try this:
Run the DirSetPicker and click the "No Dir.Set" button.
Check the root folder and look for a "Dir.set" file- there should not be one.
Run the DirSetPicker and this time double click "ETO01". No copying and pasting should be necessary.
Again check the root folder and look for a "Dir.set" file- now one should be there.

If all of these are correct run EAW for any single mission and exit just after flying starts. This step is to force a rewrite of the "eaw.ini" file.
Then re-run it and select "Game Set-up".
You may see the default configuration screen, not the one in my screenie, but the planesets should be listed for selection.

I tried to double click EToo1 but was unable to copy and paste. I'm not doing something right In the game view options there are no changes from the default skins. If I ever copy and paste Etoo1 it says go to the root file and i'm not clear what that means. Dimwit

I have tried to recreate in a new folder what should happen

Running the DirSet Picker- nothing selected:

Mr.Jelly,I checked my root file and it had in it direct folder withEToo1 in it,Eto folder.planes folder but no dirrect setpicker.exe

You should have got it from this link which is on my webpage:

It is a 7-zip self installer. Run it in your EAW folder and it should install without any problem.

Your link is where I got directset exe,I downloaded again and over wrote in my EAW but nothing has changed in the root systen no directsetup exe has shown up even after I try a quick single mission.My operating system is widows98xp Dimwit

There is no directset.exe and there never has been, so I have no idea what you are referring to..
The link gives you a file named "DSPBasic.exe".
This is a 7-zip self installer. If you run it in your EAW folder it will create a "DirSets" folder containing the "ETO01" file and the "DirSetPicker.exe".


To test it I just downloaded "DSPBasic.exe" from the link, put it in a new folder, and ran it.
Sure enough it created the "DirSets" folder containing the "ETO01" file and the "DirSetPicker.exe"



So, what did you do that was different?
