Now that was virtual racing enjoyment which I haven't experienced for months! smile And that despite a botched start in race 1, a crash in the 1st lap of race 2 and also in the sprint race.

But since I entered just for fun and not with the definite desire to win this series (ok, I stop joking) and therefore chose the very enjoyable but weaker BMW 320 I'm more happy with the results today, as I didn't drive really bad.

Doug, thanks for hosting, this format looks like a real winner to me.

Fun day of racing, shame I couldn't finish strong in the sprint. I hit a curb and the car got up in the air and just did the slow, lazy rollover. Ended up on my roof so I just bailed.

Very glad to finish third in the reverse grid event after getting caught up in a wreck and ending up stopped on track, pointed the wrong way and ultimately 15 seconds behind the field when I got going again.

Congratulations to Arthur who ran 2 superb races, Henny too.

In the first race I was running 2nd and didn't have the pace to stay with Arthur, then when lapping a car I missed my braking point and went into the back of him (the lapped car), very sorry about that. That allowed Rob past then I made another mistake which let Lugnut past, so ended up finishing a disappointing 4th.

I had a strong 2nd race, getting to the front in a good amount of time and had a 12 second lead over Arthur. I had to build a lead whilst he was still making his way to 2nd but I wasn't driving very well, then I made a couple of mistakes and that let him past me easily. I think I could have made it to the end just in front of him but I wasn't on form today, though finishing 2nd isn't bad.

The sprint race went well with pole position and taking the 5 (4) lap sprint to the flag.

Congratulations to Arthur for taking Races 1 and Race 2 in the PRO group! winner

Congratulations to henny for taking Races 1 and Race 2 in the AM group! winner

Congratulations to Ahmad for taking Race 3 in the PRO group! winner

Congratulations to henny for taking Race 3 in the AM group! winner

Sorry for all those that had a bad day, but please don't get discouraged. The next 3 events will be very different from today's track, and no one has such a huge lead that it cannot be challenged.

The tight 2 x 2 formation was a bit of a pain, but it seemed to keep cars from overcooking going into T1 and taking each other out. Well, kinda. smile

Never know if a format will work or not but we may have stumbled into a real firecracker. Some terrific duels and next week the short/tight track at Norisring will make everything new again. Norisring is loaded now on the server so have at it when you have time.

Managed to get better pace than i was expecting from the Lancia in qualli but it's pretty tricky to hang on in race conditions. Had my share of bad luck and plenty of unforced errors today. Not the best results but had a real blast nonetheless. Looking forward to Norisring.

A really fun evening. Had a great couple of laps with Puro in the final race. Grats to Arthur, Henny And Ahmad for some awesome performances. Grats Guys.

Normally i don't mind this, but within the confines of a 'championship' i'm not sure what i feel about allowing ad-hoc car changes when there's quite big differences between some car/track combo's. Dunno what you guys think?

I don't think that the Porsche is the fastest - especially in twisty circuits - but I'll be sticking with it, despite Arthur's dominance. I just love the sound of it.

We might as well allow it. Keep in mind we allowed race to race changes in SCES, and that was for money (2011 season).

True, but points were not transferable between cars, and advantages/disadvantages of changing were not as big.

Well quite an emotional evening !
Got an outstanding quali, doing a lap the closest to perfection I could dream of.
Race 1 went well, without any major incident ; race 2 was completly different, hitting a car in T4 L1 and then stalled. I've been able to make my way through the field, back to 2nd with 13-14 laps to go and a 12.5s gap with Ahmad. If he didn't make that two mistakes he'd surely get the 9 points, I've been lucky there smile
Sprint race began the worst way, crashing in quali at turn 1. Then I had a messy first lap again. 4 laps were enough though to get 5th overall and a great finisher with Saghen and David.

About the car. I do believe Zandy is the worst track of the champ for running the M1. If there's such a gap between Ahmad and me in quali, it can't be all down to the drivers, uh ? So I let you guess what would it be at Le Mans. For the last 3 races, I'll drop the M1 then. Haven't decided for which car yet but I'll do wink

I knew this option existed, hence I also handed in a custom paint for the Capri.

Nonetheless, on saturday I finally decided to stick to the 320, with the full knowledge, that I wouldn't have a genuine chance for a high position at Zandvoort, and this will be even more so the case at Hockenheim and LeMans. At Zandvoort I could annoy the Capris, at Hockenheim and LeMans they will leave me in the dust. Why did I take the slower car? Well, for me the fun in this event is in the foreground, a decent position just a bonus. At Norisring I might be able to annoy the Capris once more, but that was it. I will stay with the 320 nonetheless.

But ultimately the most important reason for my decision to stick to a car is, that I assumed a car change wouldn't be overtly appreciated by the other racers. And seeing most of the reactions here this seems to be the case.

To avoid a similar situation in the future I'd propose to limit the car selection (meh...I don't like this) or alternatively, instead of using PRO and AM groups, make a group for every car or at least roughly comparable cars. The historic DRM also had 2 divisions, the small and the big one, depending on engine size. And here we have cars with very different power to weight ratios.
