I am sure to miss something but to sum it up:

I was mucking about polano last pm U.S. central time and was on T/S comms with darkcyde and fearlessfrog and had the audio portion of their car adventures.
Got dark to come pick me up and the map got way smaller at 40 mph !

We do some gas and goes at the N station out of polana, picked up thermos, section8 and the hitchhikingflatlander at different times.

The first tent raid was at black-lake with dark and frog and we spent a good deal of time making sure the owners were not at home. Loot gathered and me managing to loose all my 1911 ammo in the exchange due to nooby-ness we killed a cow, cooked up the good parts and made our way back to a very hard to find car :}

Found a helo in a field on our travels to try and pick up a dying player, sorry we missed you btw.

Its 1 am here by then and my minds a bit slower but we picked up another chap in a sniper suite and went to get sectioneight who was a bit lost at bernizo but watching a big camp.
Made it to town and the place was active with players looting and zeds about when we picked up several guys on foot chasing us out of the city through the NW exit, good times :}

The last raid was on a tent city west of bern and we just pulled the skooby-van right up to it and took............everything !

Now off to stash the car and the car crew attempting to start our own tent city with no luck around the car hiding place i logged with good supplies at 3:00 am.

The games going to be amazing at a more finished state and including this mod into arma3 is pure win, if your on the fence about trying this 1 car ride through the madness will change your mind !

If the install mess has you staying away if you have arma and arrowhead try the installer/mod fixer in this thread built by sickboy, infos about halhway down. Its amazing as it will patch your stuff to play any arma mod out and even launch the game for you.

That was a lot of fun. It's all Ajay's fault too. I was sitting in Steam with a hot cup of tea, contemplating whether to start up 'Peggle Unicorn Edition' or the latest Nancy Drew Adventure when he msg'd me and we went to find a mutual server. After lots of patching problems I found my way alone on a beach but via the SimHQ teamspeak managed to bag a ride in the Party Bus.

We managed to reach about 90mph on the highway, and it was the most relaxing apocalypse scenario in history - with so much shopping involved too.

Thanks to DarkCyde - I 'll pay you the gas money in beans!

Sunday the wife and kiddo went to the pool so i had the day to play :}

I was on the xxxxxxx server looking to setup a camp when a few folks started logging in and we went to form a smash and grab team............well ok maybe more of a run and bleed team but we all stayed alive despite deaths best efforts :}

Rather a bit of map reading and survival skills were applied and we learned both our limits and those of the game engine/server . It was another great travel day with the whole se quadrant of the map being covered.
I had to bail just as transport was arranged but i felt good knowing the team was in the party bus raiding the maps good stuff.

This was the 2nd barn we raided looking for a primary weapon and we had some friends drop by....................

Haha. Good times indeed. Somehow I got to be designated taxi driver. I posted in the other thread, but a short list of updates:

I found a offroad truck (toyota hilux by the look of it) to go with the Scooby Van. Its parked at the cabin near Gorka.

I did manage to start a tent camp, in the field south of the cabin. Its in the little dell, very nice spot I think.

Feel free to use the vehicles guys, I don't own them or anything. Just try to keep them in one piece Next time a group of us is online, we need to go raid the airfield or something.

Tent placing 101:
-crouch
-go in Gear and spam the place tent button
-walk slowly
-when you start doing the tent pitching animation, but the tent goes back in your inventory, you are close.
-keep taking a small step, and place again, until it drops.

The car park and the camp are in a perfect spot and i for one am looking forward to next weekend and adding to the collection. I was on for a few hours today but without any practice in the cars and the server lag i did not want to risk a crash.


I will get the controls sorted offline and plan to add helo flying to the list of skills.

And today another thing we tried was the multiple zed drop with volly fire calling targets before hand, very cool. Also using the road flares to backlight zeds at the deerstands worked well. And if they agro and your close to a barn or store just run past them and get inside and form a fireing line, very cool as well.

The best style is the camp raids by a long shot and the cars make that happen. How long before those choke points in the small towns on the busy roads are staffed with snipers ? Good times gents, if your waiting because of the install hassel follow that thread link and get the six launcher installed.
I dragged 2 guys from the 1.60 hell and they were updated and playing fully patched and just a few minuets.

Ok, I have made it all the way from the west side of the map to the Gorka gas station. Hopefully I am close to the camp. I will try to get on tonight to hook up. I hope someone has some food. I'm down to my last can of sardines.

Where are all the freakin' goats?!?!?!

Snuck in an hour last night on that server. Odd thing was I didn't see a single animal, while normally I'm tripping over goats and pigs. Bug I wonder?

I am having that exact problem today. I NEED food.

I've not logged much time, but I also noted that there was almost zero food and animals to be found. I've traveled nearly all the way to the north west, and thus far seen one pig and one cow.

Last night my character's food icon was flashing, hadn't seen any food spawned even in grocery stores on 3 or 4 different servers. I ultimately had a single can of pasta spawn after more than one hour of shoveling useless stuff out of some barns to encourage item respawns.

Part of the game, I guess. But to be honest, even micromanaging an entire empire in GalCiv2 is less tedious than carrying scores of wood piles and empty cans out of the same 3 barns for an hour and a half.

Heh, I wonder if this isn't an elaborate joke or social experiment by Rocket. See what happens if all food is removed..

UTR, there's an animal spawn on the hill west of the gas station. I ran over a goat there yesterday, and it had a cow the day before. Just scan the hillside from the station. If the zombies are at the intersection, it will likely spawn some steak/mutton too

I just jump servers. Log out where you think food will spawn and then just change servers until you find what you need.

Yeah, I saw a cow there the other day when we linked up but I did not have all the tools I would need to prepare usable food.

Now I do.

UTR, yea I did that. Actually tried it "inside" the grocery store. Kinda risky spawning into where players are likely to gather, let alone zombies. Never found any food. In fact I wondered if there was a bug, since a couple of times there was absolutely nothing spawned in the stores or buildings. One server actually had zero zombies spawned, too.

Restarted my client, tried again on different servers, still no food.

We were camping the gas station east of gorka last night and managed to see 3 vehicles in 1 hour. We were never in position to kill the drivers though so we let them all go. At one point there was a truck filling up at the gas station and one of our guys was sneaking in to throw a grenade under the car but the guy aggro'd some zombies and hopped back in his car and split before we got within throwing distance.

We did find a satchel charge with remote detonator so I think we will just set that up near the road in the next day or so and wait for a car to pass by.

I took the truck and did some looting of the nearby camps. Hope nobody discovers ours. Also got an ammo crate from a downed heli.

As you can see, we have a nice little stash. Its so nice that people go finding all this stuff and putting it in little abandoned tents for us to take! We're a little short on AK ammo, so looting deer stands while you're wandering around is a good idea. If you die or just need an upgrade, feel free to grab some loot.

Each slot type is separate. Be careful when putting things into a full tent (like ours right now). If you don't have time to add up the inventory, test placement by putting something like beans or coke. If the slots are full, the item will be vaporized.

That tent camp by the lakes has not be refilled - lazy owners, don't they know I am looting on schedule?!

It still has 33 tents in one of the tents, if anyone needs one.

I threw away my AKM, had no ammo and didn't want to look like a target with it on my shoulder.

I played a couple hours this evening. Finally found my way to a well stocked supermarket. Lots of food, a compass, and in a nearby barn a crossbow with half a dozen bolts. Cool thing about the crossbow, I can recover the bolts from the heads of the zombies I kill. And I can fire it in a crowd of zombies and nobody hears anything.

Still no matches though. My uncooked side of beef is still in the backpack.

The zombies are really stupid. I've yet to be killed by them, even crawling among them is little risk. So far the most fun has been navigating with no map marker for my location. Just landmarks and such on the web browser map.

Looks like you guys are having a ball I missed the party bus , the 93616 patch ran and applied but when i launch from the bat file i get a pixel shader error. I was trying to get in with Frog so i could come for a lap in the van but could not get past the error.

I got a mate to try the patch and he got the same error.. Error compiling pixel shader PSSSSM Specular Alpha:1 , i am running a gt560ti and he is gtx680 ..maybe an nvidia setting ?

I ended up reverting to 1.70 , hopefully i can sort this and jump into the midnight oil server. I have a backpack full of steaks and no dlippin matches to cook them with !

Ajay - seeing this, the best clue I can find on that pixel shader error is something to do with how the mod is being started up i.e.

The REDACTED is the ARMA II beta client patch and 1.70 I think (not sure tho).

I just pressed 'Play' when it came up in the server listings in the Six Launcher. It did stuff. I don't really know what it did but it worked (*)

I had some time tonight so walked back from dolina grabbing gear. Added a bunch of stuff to the west tent, mixed good stuff plus 2 mags for the .50 bmg lol !

Found a kobra with a couple mags, wow. Added a akm and 7 mags in the west tent and all the stuff is for the group so feel free to cook those steaks :}

Couple of things. I just spawned for a few minutes and their was a pig nearby. Killed and gutted it...cooked 4 steaks and they are in truck. Also added piles of wood. Found a hatchet nearby and added to truck. Also, since not everyone who visits this site are members, might want to keep location and server hush hush if u happened to mention it in a post.

I have been close about its location with the guys i have played with and chatted with on t/s and i do hope our rather open loose clan operation gets some sane players interested from this sight.
We could use the same location and pick another server and simply do the server hop with the gear in backpacks and get most of it less the autos in a short period of time.
I rather expect thats what others have done, simply spammed their base of operations accross several servers and if its found they just hop to another server. bit like transporter tech from si-fi .

The problem I have with "that server" is that they dont allow custom faces which means it is a no go server for me.

Played for the first time last night and met up with, was it DarKcyde?, and later on UnderTheRadar joined. Got a brief tutorial and was shown the ropes. I have a feeling I wouldn't have made it far without those guys. I'm looking forward to continuing the ongoing struggle to survive. Thanks again guys. It sure is less stressful surviving with friends!

I have the six launcher and it works fine but the planets would not align last night so i couldn't join, stuck at the loading screen. I dived in a Dallas server and am slowly making my way up to the area , currently just North of Electro, spawned at Kamnka. Fingers crossed for a join in the other server tonight.

Yeah, last night was a little weird. I logged on for a few minutes in the evening and the server crashed. It came back up 10 minutes later but the server time had jumped 6 hours ahead. Sunday there was a lot of trouble with syncing characters, lag spikes, etc. Hopefully things will iron themselves out.

PS. Nice work on the camp and the vehicles. Looked like a lot of thought and work went into them. Will try to contribute when I can

So the camp is compromised, but I dont think they found the cabin. 3 people jumped me while unloading the truck at the tents. They took the truck.

Mars got killed when he spawned in around them. We hooked up, and actually had a firefight w/ the guys in the truck. We lost tho. I hope I beat that truck up good, it took about half a clip of AKM.

I took the Scooby Van, and hid it on the trail west of Khelm. Hopefully this thread is anonymous enough to prevent bandits finding it. If anyone can think of a really good hiding spot, go ahead and move it. This one's not bad, but pretty close to Berezino, so I don't like it much.

Not unless you want to stand around the camp 24 hrs a day.

By nature, any camp we setup depends on nobody stumbling on it. Even the cleverest, best hidden spot can be discovered if someone happens to just run over it. The restrictions on placing tents makes it even more difficult, since they can't be hidden between spruce trees and the like.

I sort of enjoy the challenge. I think parking the truck at the camp gave it away, they just followed the engine sound, and saw the truck on the hill. If I would've parked at the cabin, we could've lost all our vehicles instead of just our camp position.... so things didn't turn out too bad.

There are tents stashed at both the Berezino camp and the Black Lake camp. Keep your eyes out for a nice hiding spot, and see if you can get a tent to pitch. We need a new base.

Or we could just switch servers and use the same location. I wouldn't mind a hardcore server without crosshair, since its makes spotting people so easy.

Sounds like a great idea. Anything to increase our stealth/survivability.

Last night, didn't you mention you saw crows circling above when you were moving about?

Rocket is taking inquiries on whether to implement a new humanity system which would have flies or crows circling above if someone had low humanity. I for one do not like the idea, but he mentioned he may have added it without telling anyone to see how ppl handle it. Not saying it was you guys last night, but rather someone nearby may have had low humanity. Rocket may have been testing without anyones knowledge.

Section Eight, I did not know that. Last night I was sneaking out of a town, I had seen no players there. In a field of bushes and trees on the way out, I noticed a couple of crow shadows going around in circles. I continued on my way after looking at them flying for a couple of seconds. Perhaps another player was hiding nearby there. It was a veteran server, so no tags were on.

US23 and US25 are great servers that run hardcore and the betas.

Started heading up to the tent camp but got mutilated in the dark by Zeds, killed 140 in total , travelling with a mate who outscored me with 150. If we had not been being retards thinking we were at a rave party and running with chem lights we probably would have made it

So we had a nice little 4 man raid on the NW airfield last night. Good little run, ran into someone spawning in at the barracks (lame...), ran over like 100 zombies (i wish driver got zed kills for that!). Note that zombies CAN beat up on the Scooby van. The crowd at the barracks beat it up pretty bad, but we had enough car parts to get it all back in tip top shape. Will need to make a run on the factory or something to restock some car parts soon.

New beta patch today, looks like they're really fixing the cat-vision gamma cheat. Chemlights and flashlights going to get a lot more use i think.

Nice fixes and good fun last night, a factory run is definitely a good idea maybe we should search for some more vehicles to repair as well. I've been thinking that a boat would be a good find too, we could stash it somewhere and use it to ferry people off the coast to safety. Or we can do some serious camp searching too!

I got a far west login after death and started making my way N. East from zeleno and past green mountain atm heading east with good stuff.
I logged out just N zelno last night for dinner and when i logged back in on dallas i made my way down to the store and looked to have just missed some fight. I counted 14 zeds inside the store dead with a couple more out back, found the poor bugger dead in the back area with an empty enfield and starter pack.

There were like 6-7 of us grouped up last night but, I am CST and it was a little late for me.

I was disappointed by the NW AF. I went in a barracks and some hangars. Best thing I found was n AKM.

I found a crashed helo east of the AF but, it had about 8Zs and I was alone. I got next to it but could not interact w/ it.

Normally I would say it was a waste of time but ... it wasn't I had fun soloing an AF

I logged in today and went shopping to gearup for another hunt. All the slots are full and i have a bunch of cans pluas extra akm and 1911 mags.

You don't interact with helis anymore (at least not for now). The loot spawns on both sides on the ground, and sometimes it's half buried in the terrain, so you have to get right up on it to know it's there. We pulled a bunch of STANAG rounds out of an ammo box a couple of nights ago, and I found a Bison SD that was lost in the Great Scooby Van heist (sniff...)


UPDATE: Just confirmed on the DayZ forum announcements that the vehicles were reset on all servers yesterday, so the Scooby van was despawned, not stolen. Helis are still too dangerous due to desyching, but may be fixed in the next patch (1.7.1).

UPDATE #2: If any of the 7-man crew last night spawns in today on the server/location that shall not be named, they need to check the nearby city for newly-spawned vehicles. They've now been more randomized and apparently some high-end gear can spawn in them as well.

Good to know Dark and I managed to repair a sedan together Saturday night despite me falling asleep with one of the tires in my inventory!!!!

I only closed my eyes for a second (I swear) when I opened them up (an hour later) Dark was on another server and like what happened "YOU FELL ASLEEP AGAIN DIDNT YOU!". Well miraculously I was still alive in the factory outside Cherno (thanks to a low server population) and I made my way to Stary met dark and fixed the car and drove off into the night! Don't ever use a comfy day bed as a gaming chair, you have been warned!

I'm currently half way to repairing the UAZ on US10 ragecagegaming.

If anyone has or can find tires, lets get that thing running. Server is running central time but its hardcore. We might have to gear up for some night ops for the usual evening to late night group.

Mission successful. UAZ is at the old cabin, in the trees a bit farther from the road. It needs a gas tank, if you find one.

Alrighty, me and moose last night found after a long trek from gorka through berezino, a firefight with another survivor in berezino, and a trek through the airport at krasnostav, a party bus! all fixed up, ready to go, and with a nice load out of medical supplies and a few weapons on board. We drove it off and stashed it, but if we meet any of ya'll on TS or if you shoot me or Moose a PM we can give you the server and grid ref for the bus.

Should get everybody together one night and go joy riding through the server on it, this is an actual long city bus.

Probably will be on tonight. The other half is away this weekend so havethe house all to myself! Might even sit in my underwear while playing . Anywho, after yesterday, Airdog, Darkcyde got into a battle with two other guys at the NW airfield. We had a shootout while we were stuck in the barracks. Guy even tossed in a grenade. Dark was the only one to make it out alive. My four week character gone Kind of relieved as I get to start from scratch. Dark did mention with all the ammo we had we never really utilized it...well he jinxed us! lol. Was fun.

I'm gonna try to be on tonight after I put my kids to sleep. My wife is going out w/ her friends so, I should have a distraction free evening if you guys want to get together and go gear hunting.

There's about 8 of us on right now (7:45pm CST, Friday). Jump on! The more the merrier!

So last night was awesome right up until the herd at NW AB. I was lucky enough to loot a Bison from a helo and feel like I am 5 times more capable now. I doubled my kill count last night. But, the fun did not last. Too many loud guns drew too many Zekes. I got cornered, took a lot of damage while I was surrounded by zombies, punked out and disconnected

I respawned on a low pop server and healed up and left the AB.

Still need a higher volume pack, Bison and Mak mags and, of course, NVGs.

If anyone wants to go on another raid, let me know! However, airfields do not seem to be worth it. We were doing great until then.

I will be on tonight as well, left my toon at the lakes so its in the middle of the map.

I have extra matches and some food, just the chec pack so not many extras. I will give up the revolver and a couple of mags for it and have plenty of steaks.

At my last start fresh attempt i just ran north to mog from the coast and skipped all the bean coast mess and picked over spawns.

Death Jester and I will be on tonight as well. I'm over at his house doin the lan thing till sunday, then it's back home to the family.

Friday night, 8 man crew running into the NW airfield like a boss. We need loudspeakers so we can play Ride of the Valkyries on direct. When I logged off I counted 12 people on TS. Truly epic.

I have to tell the barracks story SectionEight mentioned, cuz it was crazy.



Section_Eight, Airdog, and DarKcyde roll into the NW airfield. After meeting up, we scan the area behind the hangars, all seems quiet. Decide to head for the barracks to see what we can find.

While looting, I glance out the window and spot 2 people crawling in from the east, contact at maybe 25'. I'm in the first bunkroom, just behind the bathroom. Section_Eight is in the middle, and Airdog at the back. We quickly hide and setup for ambush.

I'm leaning over, watching the doorway using as much cover as I can get. I see a rifle poke through, and hold my shot until I can see at least half a baseball cap. Two M14 rounds to the head takes care of the first contact, despite being trapped we get first blood. Flies start buzzing. However, it wakes up every zombie for at least half a click. I think someone got a shot off on the other friendly before the horde descended upon us.

Zombies started rushing the barracks. They didn't walk in smoothly, but sort-of warped past the doorway to stand in front of my room. I went through an entire clip of 20 DMR rounds dropping zeds. Eight day old character started with a zombie killcount of ~285, climbing fast. After a reload, zombie broke my legs. I'm not sure, but they might've been hitting me through the window behind me. I dropped unconscious at ~6000 blood. Things were getting bad. A zed is chewing on my leg as I make horrified screaming sounds. Zombies still pouring in the door. Its up to Airdog and Section_Eight now. I hear gunfire from outside as well, our guest isn't immune to the massive horde we brought down.

I manage to regain consciousness at around 1500 blood, but that zombie is still taking chunks out of my leg, so I drop again before I can do anything. Right after my second pass-out, Section_Eight finally gets to my room and clears the zombies off me. I regain consciousness at ~1000 blood, broken legs, shaking, everything is blurry and sounds like its a mile away. I start patching myself up, and get a blood transfusion. Feeling like a just picked up +200 Health and Red Armor, i reload my M14. That guy is still out there.

The odd zombie still makes its way in the door, but now we're worried about the people more. Airdog is prone at the rear of the hallway, and Section_Eight moves back to the middle. A few tense moments of silence. We hear footsteps outside. Somewhere around this time, Section_Eight dies to gunfire. I can't see what happens, but shots ring out a couple times. Man down, they got Section_Eight. Then back to tense silence, over the background drone of flies.

A gunshot rings out and glass breaks on the window across the hall. He missed, thanks to the dirty glass. I see a shadow in the window. Now I've regretted not using the ammo I have before, and dying after using half a clip when I have 5 or 6 on me. Not today. I pop two rounds into the shadow, about where his head should be. Then I just start spamming the window in case he moved. Maybe he ducked? I put the rest of my 20 rnd DMR mag into the window and the wall. Fire superiority! Later I found his body outside the window, probably took the first couple bullets in the head.

Its not over, there's at least 1 more outside the barracks. We hear occasional shots as he takes care of zombies, or perhaps is firing at us. We can't go outside, he's surely zeroed in on the exit. We wait.

Suddenly Airdog says he's dead. Couldn't see the shooter. He was prone at the back of the hallway, perhaps they guy saw him glitching thru the wall and shot the wall? A couple zeds come in, adding to the confusion. I drop them. In between the zombies, I see a player in a baseball cap run by my doorway. He ran right through zeds, I dont think he even saw me. There's gunfire from the rear of the barracks. After clearing the last of the zeds, I run to the back room.

There's TWO guys with coyote bags and baseball caps back there, one of them spurting blood, the other is already attracting flies. A couple rounds to the head adds to the steady buzz of flies. I scan the windows, my dark ghillie shadow must be obvious to anyone watching the building. I can't see anyone, I think its finally over. The drone of flies fills my ears. They're everywhere. Finally the adrenaline starts to drain.

Inspecting the situation, there's stacks of zombies at the door to the barracks. One body outside my window. Section_Eight's ghillie is midway down the hall. Two more at the back room, next to Airdog's body in the hallway. I believe a server hopper spawned in behind Airdog, headshotting him while he was focused on the doorway. The poor guy didn't realize he just warped into a battlefield, and adding a 3rd side to the fighting wouldn't end well. When the last of the opfor ran into the barracks, the two of them shot it out, and server hopper got owned.

I guarded the bodies for a while, waiting for Dozer to reach the barracks. He was pretty fresh off the coast, and managed to get all the survival gear he needed, along with a nice M4 I believe. My killcount at the end of the day was over 350. Insane.



TL;DR: Remember to post an overwatch, don't get all greedy and go for the loot. It would've saved all our lives.

Looking back, I was the first to go down, came inches from death, but somehow I was the only one to walk way. Mostly, I just remember the flies. So many flies.

Great write up, exciting stuff and sorry to hear about the rest of the crew.

I have been watching a lot of DayZ streams and of course that's the first thing I noticed, the Zeds move terribly (to me at least) even after all of the updates.
Is this something they are working hard to improve or is the current Zed movement what the developers want (hopefully not)?

edit: just read marsvb's post in his thread about last night about the Zed lag and stuff so here is hoping they get that sorted sooner than later.
