Thanks!
Would you mind explaining the .scn file edit part? smile

Which are the most demanding graph feats? Any tweaks around?

(I have a radeon 6850, I thought this is good enough for the game:) )

I have a 5850 and didn't have any problems. But the GFX card isn't the problem in most racing sims. The CPU has to do most of the work especially when there are many cars around.

One this that really hurts fps are the shadows. Turn does off (don't like that) or on medium.

Sure smile

In the Gamedata/Locations/mytrack file, there's a mytrack.SCN file. What this file does is pick up all the instances of the track so rFactor loads them. That applies for the trees, the skybox, the s/f line ... Editing the .SCN file basically means to me : removing all the FPS-eater objects.

Open that .SCN file with Notepad (or whatever you want :P), you'll see plenty of these lines :

Instance=fbuild17
{
VisGroups=(33) ///fbuild
MeshFile=fbuild17.gmt CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODOut=(2000.0)
}

I didn't bother understanding everything smile what you need is : MeshFile, the name of the instance loaded ; and CollTarget, which tells you if you can collide the instance or go through. You can't delete objects with CollTarget=True, otherwise the server will kick you. But any of the CollTarget=False instances can be deleted, just by removing these lines.

For example, dealing with low FPS entering the Stadium, I deleted all the grandstands and left half of the spectators. Now it looks like this :

Much lower FPS, and Stadium's spirit is still there biggrin and from the cockpit, you completely forgot people are flying !

Be careful and don't delete brake markers wink

Thank you!
Makes it clear, however, as Rob stated, I shouldn't have any issues with this card, so maybe I can avoid removing track objects!

Hey Arthur, you don't need to remove entire lines, you only need to modify the VisGroups value.

http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=239904

So for example, you can show the brake markers at Hockenheim in Low Detail by changing the value from 33 to 32, instead of removing things from Full Detail.

+1

Shadows have HUGE impact, especially with lots of cars. Changing from full to high or medium is definitely worth a try.

With 1 wing and lowering brake duct and radiator I hit (214mph) 344kph at the kink. With race trim but still 3 laps of fuel right about 339/340(ish)kph.
