Sorry about bumping you off, Ahmad. Now I remember I didn't see you in my mirrors after that start. But I didn't notice I bumped you.

Thanks for the race today guys. First time racing in a new mod in 5 years and first time at that track and no practice.
Glad i just survived. Sorry about causing the inverted restart, the three in front of me tangled and i tried to go around but just clipped one and .... well a mess from that.

Last race was hilarious becuase i was way back but attacking then i saw 9:40 to go on the hud so i set up a pitstop and went down pit lane to get the checkers!! odd

Great bunch of guys and sorry for talking during qualifying
just got frustrated trying to log in
I was thinking this is the quietest group of racers - no one had said anything since i logged in lol
didn't realize it was qualifying
and then was the racing and bumping started everyone was piping up!! lol

No worries! It was a racing incident. It's great to see how close me and you have been on pace during the last races, less than a tenth separated us during qualifying smile

Sorry for bailing today...I just wasn't feeling it at all. I did about 50+ laps of practice Saturday night alone on the server trying to find the sweet spot in gearing and tweaking other things in my setup. What was dumb was that I thought I had a good setup so I overwrote my setup I used for Saturdays practice races and I forgot where I was with them after my new "final" setup wasn't exactly what I wanted afterall.

banghead

I just couldn't keep it on track today, and the sun was calling me outside...lol.

Wow, LeMans...cool! Just took my 935 out for a test. I miss the '79 LeMans course...except for the jump. driving

I wonder if my engine will hold out. I'm at the redline (just under) on the straights and can't get any more gearing for 4th. Think I'll keep my wing at 2 although I didn't actually redline with a 1 wing but I also didn't have the downforce through the corners. I think it'll be okay. A couple of the corners surprised me since we just did the more modern LeMans in the SCES. Only got to 3.56 and change after 10 laps I ran. The AI in there beat me by half a second overall, but I had him beat by 3.5 seconds at the 90 degree right hander after the long straight. I lost the time in the twisties. frown

Should be a fun track. smile

I had the worst racing weekend in my online history, the interesting thing is, that I still enjoyed it. smile
I tinkered way too much with my car setup, without any significant experience or academic knowledge.
Lost uncountable hours to this, instead of doing laps on the track.
At the end, I had an unstable, slow car, without enough practise. The challenge part was OK! smile
Sorry if I hit anyone (I do not remember big hiccups), next time I'll be better, I promise.
(Survival mode in sprint races still pays off smile )

Will Le Mans be double points since it's 60 minutes? This will keep the PRO championship wide open smile

Well I must say it's great to be back on track..

Qualy

I tried something different with the diff thanks to Purolator's advice shortly before qualy and it paid off big time, as I put my fastest lap down by 0.5s early on, even though I stuffed my clutch point coming out of the final corner and had to have 3 goes at getting it into third... I had nailed the rest of the lap and I just couldn't get close to it in my other attempts until my last lap where I was down by 0.3 after sector 2 and ended up 0.012s in the end...

Race 1

I had a great start which led to a epic little battle with Rob until he made a mistake leaving me to my own devices... I made 1 biggish mistake the whole race and that was on the right hander into the stadium section, I missed my braking marker and went off onto the grass cutting my lead over Ahmad in half... I then knew if I could keep the lead over 2 seconds up to the final lap I could win... Unfortunately Ahmad made a mistake and his epic charge was halted... A great way to come back to racing here with you guys... smile

Race 2

The start of the reverse grid race was a bit messy a bit too much jockying for position there, Ahmad was lucky not to end up in the back of DB through no fault of his own... Once underway there was a scrum of cars trying to get through on the inside and my line led me to a nice clean sythe through and past Ahmad and Rob, but then I had my own problems with a scrum and that saw Ahmad fly past and I was never to see him again... For some reason it seemed like DB had found another turbo because catching him was a task and a half which saw a mistake at the hairpin from me that almost had me on my roof... I managed to get back into the draft for the last 2 laps and was set to get him coming into the stadium but in trying to split us with a lapped car I went onto the grass and lost it all... Ended up limping home with a puncture to 4th... A lot of fun was had making my way up to 3rd and then chasing down DB, but that's racing sometimes it just doesn't work out like you want it to...

Sprint

The 1 lap sprint qualy was always going to be tough as I needed at least 2 flying laps to get the most out of the car... But somehow I got pole again... I had a decent start but a small mistake gave Rob a opportunity in the back chicane and a mistake through that chicane allowed Ahmad passed... I was driving hard to stay with them but I just couldn't, and then with 2 laps to go I realised I made a huge error and was 3 litres short on fuel and ended up 2 corners short of the line...

This mod is a absolute blast to drive, all the cars are just so much fun to drive, and all have their own quirks...

Thanks to all who came out to race and make this fun possible, and of course SimHQ and Doug for hosting...
