Glad someone acknowledges it. Just a few years ago dlc was always free. First time I remember paid dlc was in Black Arrow on the original Xbox. It was preposterous at the time, $5 for maps! LOL
Now games are $10 more plus $10 more for dlc---if not more---and paying to unlock parts of the game you already bought.

Not that I think F2P games are necessarily that great either. I've yet to find one I like anyway.

Rise of Flight (only 4 planes), DCS World (Su-25T only), Mech Warrior Online and ArmA 2 are some decent ones. Though I agree, F2P tends to be boring or have limited content.

In the case of RoF, you'll end up paying far more than $60 to get even 1/4th of the content. And that is how F2P games tend to be.

I think some nice F2P games would be ideal though I do prefer paying up front and getting a full game.

What is the price for a product that you will not create, will not take the time to lean, and will only complain if it does not meet your expectations?

a lot of people would. However the tools arnt released for the vast majority of games because either the makers dont want to spend time doing an SDK, or dont want 3rd partys doing anything that would spoil their own DLC plans!

You have a right to believe that games aren't to expensive, you have a right to think that you should pay for new maps, weapons, etc etc... you have a right to think were all lazy and don't appreciated games, and complain alot... and I have a right to call all that BS!


IMO, games are too expensive, these companies milk every dollar they can out of us knowing our addiction to gaming, and make shorter, crappy'er games... release BS DLC, and then in a year repeat.

IE:

Tiger Woods PGA Tour from EA 60 bucks
golf courses released as DLC within 2 weeks of game release, 12 at 5 bucks each

In one year, new release, very little upgrade/update, might be one or two new "features"... and all the courses have to be re-bought.

I did not say you should create all of your life on your own, I said you should not complain about the cost if you are not willing to make an effort.

The purpus of a business is to create profit. Otherwise it is not a business, but a charity.

If a game is too expensive, do not buy it. The studios that produce expensive games will go bankrupt and the remaining studios will understand that they must keep the cost low.

While the tools of specific games are not avalible, the language a computer speaks is public knowledge, along with free tools and opensorce projects.

If there is an addiction, the addiction should be addressed and not the cost of the drug.

The problem is too many people DO buy this crap, ruining it for the rest of us. The "addicts" as it were, and that's the only reason I can see for them continuing to support these.

Games should be complete on release, not short on content so it can be sold later for more. The budgets for these big games like CoD is ridiculous seeing how little content is actually in them. They might as well just leave out the SP part of CoD now and save us all $10, it's certainly obvious they only put that fraction of the development into that part anyway.

Sell the SP for $10 and the MP for $50, so the people that only care about the MP get $10 off and those who only want the SP just have to pay for the 4 hrs of content they're getting.



ROF wasn't F2P when I bought ICE. Arma 2 wasn't F2P when I bought that. DCS World is for the 25T, but no MP included, so it's pretty anemic, and besides I already own FC1 and FC2 (and will likely get suckered into getting FC3 too) so I already have been flying the 25T for years.
Have not and will not play MWO, so I can't say one thing or another about it other than I will never know.
