Ok, so you want to take the p+ss.. fair enough!
But I choose not to fire up the game, I choose not to muck about with little mini fixes and beta patches, I choose to be frustrated because I won't play the bloody thing until I see favourable reports to say the game has finaly come good.. what is so hard to understand about that.. eh?

Nothing really, was just trying to establish what your complaints were, as there are some recent things that people can try that do help.

Edit: Ok, I was taking a wee bit of p*ss but it wasn't directly just at you Troops - just more a reaction to the rough and tumble of this extended forum (something unique here at SimHQ, a special place just to moan and stuff). I'll stop, and I apologize if it annoyed.

Whilst to be fair I suppose the 100 octane inclusion and revised low alt performance etc is 'ostensibly' good news, I'm not exactly going to have a sweaty, panting congratulations-gasm like in the bananadome over something so basic they should have got right (or near enough) from the off. After being so long in development, they should know more about the Battle of Britain than the Ghost of Stuffy Dowding; not be relying on the community to put them right. Amateurish tbh. But fair play if they finally get things right.

I don't think that the performance ceilings among other things will be fixed in CoD by itself at all, though I'd like to be proven wrong. I think the high alt failure is deep rooted in the engine code and they are obviously struggling, maybe the atmospheric model and we'll have to buy and install the 'pay-patch' that will be BoM sequel or whatever to fix it. Or not, as the case may be. Wouldn't blame you though if you said 'sod it', either. smile

I also cautiously say 'ostensibly' good news because we've been told a fair few things have been fixed/improved/going to be improved/added/removed blah blah blah in the past, when they plainly have either not been....or not accurately. Ergo, I'll believe it when I've tested it, and decided in my ineffable, flawless and incontrovertible wisdom that all is indeed well. biggrin

Trooper has a valid complaint though. They hired the new AI bloke eons ago and what exactly has he accomplished so far? I bet he's known in Moscow as the Maddox Games Ninja.....Nobody can see him or knows exactly what he does, or what he actually gets paid for. But they know he's there....lurking about and presumably doing 'something'....somewhere. As Ninja's of course do. hahaha

Still haven't uninstalled though. I'm like Mulder. I WANT TO BELIEVE. But they make it so hard.

'Look forward to the patch'. *sigh*. Not that much nowadays though. I grow weary. smile

My apologies to Chivas and anyone else that I may have offended with my recent post.
I have much respect for Chivas and his tenacity. I have stated same on other forums in the past.
I am now stating it here. I should have done so earlier. My bad.

Yes, but c'mon FF, I don't want to be messing with the damn thing. I just want the offline experience to at least mirror what we had with the old IL2, even that wouldn't be so bad..
But there is nothing coming from the official source.. I could forgive less than stellar graphics just to have a decent feeling of being in the battle, with a system that actualy works with the AI etc, but sadly, all of the AI and the command system control will probably be months and months away from any kind of improvement, given the track record we are seeing...
I can't help being frustrated, I'd love to be able to say that they have given us the best combat flight sim from WWII ever, but I cant. frown

I agree with that Biggles. My level of enthuso-fan-gustoism is only really at about 18% now.

A quick google of the Kübler Ross model shows most of the community here now at 'level 4 - Depression', while a lot of the Banana Boys are behind the curve and still at level 3. Come patch time at Christmas we'll all be at level 5 and be happy it's here.

Big picture I'm generally a very overtly happy person, with so many other things to play, so I've never let it bother me that much. smile

That said, someone needs to be punished for all this! lol

If you read the 'help the devs with the AI' thread at 1C, despite all the complaints they nonetheless concluded the AI is fine as it is, except for the radio commands. So I'm betting your Ninja has been working on Russian tractor AI for Battle of (stifles yawn) Moscow.

I only fly COD once and awhile now as I've lost interest in all gaming. I still hope IL-2 COD will eventually renew my interest and would have been totally pissed at the state of the sim had to been released finished, but that isn't the case. It was released unfinished, because of the bean counters, and the development team still has the full intention of finishing it. Of course there is no guarantee it will ever be finished, and I understand why people were pissed, but continually complaining about missing features in an UNFINISHED sim doesn't make sense. There are always going to be unfinished features until its finished. I will join the royally pissed if and when the development shuts down with the sim still unfinished.

I've continued to buy sims like ROF, WOP, IRONFRONT, and others, but just install them, take a cursory look, and thats about it. I liked the terrain in IRONFRONT, but from the air it looks gawd awfull.

The 100 octane fuel news was a surprise and it would be nice to fly a Brit plane (other than a DH2) with a thottle rather than an on/off switch.

Despite the good news the whole thing seems like its either in the dolldrums or people really don't give a s**t any more. I suppose it is summer (although you would be hard pressed to believe it here) and it is typically quiet.
