That Allahu akbar is getting on my nerves though. Seems to be all people say when watching the news anymore. Reminds me of Hodor.

No worse than all the screaming of "Oh god Oh god Oh god" and "jesus/jesus christ" in other videos.

I know it isn't any worse, they're both equally annoying. But, Allahu akbar is the one we hear, in the UK anyway, because all that's on the news are people in the middle east blowing each other up. Therefore there are horrific images of people being blown up, i.e. said tank, and people repeatidly saying alluha akbar. But also the people who are doing the deeds are saying alluha akbar. Kinda wears thin.

Something interesting to see is that the turret is rotated backwards. After the initial hit it's still moving slowly, but when the magazine explodes you can see the tank rockets forward. Look at the barrel of the gun! I think the overpressure in the turret is actually causing it to move forward like that!

There are so many science-y things going on in there it's almost easy to forget the circumstances of the situation.

Looked to me like the driver panicked (rightfully so) as it looks like it starts pouring exhaust out. I'm assuming its a diesel.

That was actually quite disturbing to watch, knowing there are people on board.

Not familiar with the details of T-72 gun operation, but if the breech of the gun was open to vent the gasses what does this mean? Was the breech empty leaving the cabin open to the outside air? Or would the overpressure have burned passed any round in the breech?

The tank rockets forward probably due to an action by the driver, intentional or a spasm.

I think the engine exhaust is separate. Look at the barrel of the gun and you can see the speed the smoke is pouring out looks much like a rockets exhaust. Realistically I imagine the situation is impossible to accurately reconstruct and I don't think anyone will be asking the driver what he did after that..

Early T-72s are infamous for magazine explosions like this. The "Dolly Parton" T-72B was up-armored and redesigned to prevent that outcome.

Of all the roles offered to the military, who would actually be crazy enough to volunteer to be in a tank crew? I wouldn’t be too enthusiastic about being trapped in a “sitting duck”. It boggles my mind!

Reminds me of the Gulf War when all those hundreds of Iraqi T-72’s were annihilated by the more superior US M1 Abrams and British Challenger 1’s.
