Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules here...

I was playing with SceneryTech's NA landclass. It replaces some textures and the file that controls the way textures are applied to cliff and mountain faces, but before it does this, it creates backups of the FSX files. We'll ST's LC turned my Maui mountains into sandy cliffs and I uninstalled it... but I didn't do it correctly and I lost the backup files before they were restored.

My copy of FSX is the one from GFWL, which means its a HUGE PIA to reinstall and I can't do a second installation to get the missing files. Would it be possible for someone to send them to me? The one I'm really concerned about is the first one listed. The textures don't seem to be such a big deal(yet, anyway...).

I promise I'm not trying to do anything dishonest here. Just trying to undo an "oopsy".

Thanks.

You can reinstall pretty easy without even starting GFWL Marketplace. I bought also GFWL version but wanted to install it on the my second PC not connected to internet ATM. So I just downloaded the install through GFWL Marketplace, copied the files (several *.cab files each ~0,5GB in size) to second PC. Extracted them with the winrar, and installed FSX without problems - run setup.exe IIRC (the game works even without GFWL Marketplaced installed on the second PC, you have to activate it though through the internet).

Thanks. That's good to know. Someone from AVSIM got me the file, but I'll remember this for next time I download the game through GFWL. I'd like to back the .cab's up on DVD's so I can cut GFWL out of the loop for any future reinstalls.

Note that not all games that you get through Marketplace can be run without GFWLive though. FSX for instance can, but most games require constant internet connection for GFWL client to run however.

Gotcha. FSX and MS Flight are the only GFWL games I have. Not interested in backing up the Flight installer since GFWL seems to handle the install just fine. I'm really only interested in backing up the FSX installers since I had so much trouble with the downloads and installs previously (FSX + GFWL seems like it was a half-assed hack job).

The problem is that as long as I have the GFWL version of FSX installed, it won't let me re-download the installer files. My only option through GFWL is to uninstall. So I'll have to wait until a major issue comes up requireing a reinstall before I can back up the installers.
