Just started with dayZ a couple of weeks ago and brand new to arma2 so the learning curve has been steep.

Both of my auto installers/updaters are at 1.60 and the game is playing as good as it has in 2 weeks. The 1.70 link is down at rocket HQ so i expect they are working out the 1.70 bugs and letting folks playon the 1.60 servers that are still up.

Having a great time fighting the bean wars and the avatar is getting some great running action going on, both to travel and to run out of town with the horde in tow.
I have been playing rather crazy and my best time has been less than a day but i always seen to last longer than the advertized 29 min rate. I have t/s working and logged in tonight to SimHQ T/S and chatted with a few folks who were on.

Looking forward to a more stable game and the ability to form a group and try to survive the bean coast action.

Hey mars, glad to hear another rookie is enjoying the game!

Though I'm cross the pond I think it would be good to team up with a few like minded indviduals. I have been playing about a week and have really enjoyed things so far. I have been shot a few times by bandits which I admit sucks, lol. However someone earlier today did come to my rescue!

I had picked up a torch ( flashlight, my american cousins ) and suddently my pistol disappeared!!! right as numerous Z's popped in to have a tasy bit of Rat! Bugger!

So there I was waving a lovely yellow torch at them, which didn't even momentarily daze them...double bugger... so I legged it, swiftly pursued by numerous z's. I kept looking behind me and unfortuanley for me unlike all the classic zombie films and series where they run at the same pace as a slug, I was being purseued by Usain Bolts entire family.

When I finally ran out of puff, as a final desperate act I pulled out useless yellow torch and began waving furiously in front of their faces ( hoping that I could mesmerise them with the patterns I was making when..."BANG"...Z drops ..."Bang" another z drops. Now at this point I must confess, I did look at useless yellow torch and wondered, "is some weird bug allowing me to shoot z's with a torch?"

But no, a friendly guy had actually entered the melee to give some assistance, which was very nice of him, though unfortuantely completely futile ( he only had the makarov ) and we both soon died horribly horribly, oh well... fun while it lasted.

Wow Rat, that is pretty cool. Nice to hear of a survivor actually behaving like a human being. I got a good chuckle over your yellow torch going off unexpectedly. ready

Funny stuff biggrin

I never pick up the torch, it is a waste of backpack slottage.

My character somehow got all twisted up. I was playing the mission where you have to infiltrate the Golden Glow Estate and do multiple things. When I was out burning beehives and fighting I just eventually ran away to view my success from a distance. I first noticed it when I squated down on a tree trunk. Coot..the squatter../simHQ/2011
