Hey guys, I just have a quick question. I've been watching videos of DCS being played online on youtube, and I always hear people say something like, "Hawg 2-1 is Goalpost." What does that mean? I've searched through fighter pilot glossaries, and can't find it.

I'm looking into playing online, if I can find out how, and am trying to get a head-start on terminology once I jump in there. Thanks guys!

There's a copy of military brevity terms here but I can't find a reference to "goalpost." Can you link a YouTube video where this is used?

You can play online with minimal brevity knowledge and pick stuff up as you go along. biggrin

Thanks, Ice! That's a new term book I haven't seen yet. Of course, I have been sticking only to fighter pilot glossaries, so that's why I haven't seen it yet, but it's very cool, and I appreciate it thumbsup

Here's a video with the term used. I skipped around to the middle, so it might have been said at the beginning, but as far as I know, it's said for the first time around 13:54 and onwards, or right around the time he gets hit by the SAM. Thanks again, guys for the help and advice!!

Hmmm... the audio has nothing to do with A-10C. IIRC there was a mod that played a recorded clip in the background and apparently the clip is from a CAS flight or something. That will lend credibility to the "goalpost" term, though I can't find what it is.

That's strange. I always thought that those were actual online players talking through TS. Anyway, thanks for the help! What I'll likely do is figure out what I need to do to play online, then hook up with a live trainer online, and fill in the gaps of what I know/don't know. Thanks again for the help!

Nope, it's a mod. Not even the most hardcore group talks like that, or that often. What you need to play online is the latest version of the game, an internet connection, and some free time. Hook up with Eno, Tomcat, or Wrecking Crew, they seem to be the most active at the moment, and look out for Eno's server. You can join other open servers or closed servers if you can find the password, but your online experience may vary as people tend to fly the sim in different ways, ie with mutual support or lone wolf.

Good luck!
