Hey guys,

I've done something really stupid with my TM Warthog and need some help.

The short version is "How do I remove the pinky switch?"

The slightly longer version is that my Warthog recently started combining inputs. Hitting the pickle button (BTN 2) was causing the right trim to trigger. Very, very frustrating.

I assumed that there was some kind of pinched/crossed wire, so I opened up the handle hoping for an easy solution. I'd got it half open when I suddenly realised that couldn't figure out how to remove the pinky switch, so I gave up and put it back together. Unfortunately, I then discovered that I'd accidentally knocked the springs off the main trigger, so I'm doubly screwed now. frown

Any suggestions for helping me to get out of this mess of my own devising would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Take it appart and put it back together correctly again?
I'm Sure I remember some others suffering along the same lines, and a re-flash of the Firmware fixed it ?

Thanks for the response Valley Boy.

The problem (or at least one of them) is that I don't know how to release the "lever" switch (BTN 4) at the base of the Warthog, so I can't properly open it up. Any advice on how to do this would be enormously appreciated.

Have you looked in the manual for removing the pinkie switch? At one point I recall seeing that part in the manual as its one of the features on the stick.

if you lost the springs if you have a music shop handy you can try the ones used for guitar pickups (ask for humbucker type) , the cougar and the FLCS/F22 could be disassembled even if a button is stuck in position but shells of the warthog i think are a little bit different.

Hi Pizzicato,
You are talking about the paddle switch right? It's very easy to get it removed.

You need something slim & pointy, I used exacto knife, but it will scratch the finish a bit, so if you can, find something similar in plastic. There is this 3/4 circle washer with two inside detents that you can use the exacto knife to push out.

if you still can't figure it out, I can take some pictures when I get home from work later today.

Here ya go:

See those two inside detents? use a something pointy to yank the washer out. Then you are free to slide off the metal rod and the paddle will come off.

Awesome! Thanks Recoilfx - that's hugely helpful.

In other news, does anyone have any up-close pictures of the wiring at the back of the Warthog's triggers? I appear to have cut the blue wire that comes from the upper switch, but I've also cut a black wire whose source I can't seem to identify.

Cheers

Pizzi

is this what you are looking for?

I made a post on warthogworld.com on modding the trigger if you are interested in more pictures and info..

That's really close. I think what would help the most would be an image showing the guts of the Warthog with the rear panel removed (i.e. the panel with the pickle button and three hats.

I'm struggling to see what's attached to the two lower silver connectors at the back of the two yellow buttons/switches. There's clearly a blue wire coming out of the two upper connectors, but I'm not sure what's going on with the two lower ones. The bottom switch (BTN 6) "looks" like it's got a black wire coming out of it, but I'm not sure. Can't see the upper one at all.

Thanks for all of your help, though - it's really appreciated.

Woohoo! One of the IT guys at work managed to get the damaged wires soldered and according to the Controller screen in Control Panel IT"S NOW WORKING AGAIN! cheers

I haven't had the chance to take it home and test it in anger yet, but the signs are good!
