Hi,i m new here,i d need your help...I ve recently installed BMS,it plays fine.Tried to play mission 2 take-off of tactical engagement, but i ve noticed something.First,no voice is heard, when i click the commands from the tower commands list for example,i press T AND CLICK THE NUMBER DESIGNATED FOR Inbound.Nothing is heard, from the pilot nor the tower...Second,i can t steer the plane on tte ground. In the old f4.0 i steered it with the same way the plane banked left and right in the air(by turning my joystick left and right). Now the plane keeps going straight ahead...Any ideas???.Oh,and i can t zoom in and out...

Sorry if i m asking things already known to you, buut i m nea to these and i d really like to play it properly.

Thank you

Enable nose wheel steering (/ and SHIFT) by default - all steering is done with rudder not stick.

You need to switch on your radio and turn up the volume, then find and enter the radio frequency - which if you are at Kunsan will be UHF 292.30 and punch that in to be able to communicate. (Tower and ILS frequencies are also in the docs folder)

Do the ramp start mission a lot first to learn these things - find the startup checklists and manuals in C:\.....\Falcon4_BMS4\Docs

You need to run through the training missions a lot , find out the key commands from the controls list - this is nothing like the original Falcon 4.0

Something else.Looking at the key assignements,i ve noticed that there are wrong letters assigned to each key,for example, when i pressed ''i'' it scrolled down to a command assigned to a ''e'' with a semicolon above it...The same with many other commands and other symbols.Any idea why is that???

Thank you

Panos, first of all, welcome to SimHQ!

Second, from the sound of it, this is your first time flying the Falcon, yes? Have you played Allied Force or Falcon 4 or other "flavors" of Falcon before? If not, be aware that BMS is not exactly newbie friendly --- but don't let that put you off --- this simply means that the sim requires more study than usual and the docs are not written in a newbie-friendly way.

Your best bet is to join a virtual squadron who can teach you the ropes or at least fly with someone who knows what he is doing. I would advise posting on the BMS official forums, but it's chaotic over there and a new guy can be lost easy.... ask one question, get 15 different answers from 5 people. smile

Good luck, and if you have any specific questions, do post them here and we'll see how we can help.

Re: key assignments, might be there are two or more keys assigned to different commands? Or exit the game, enter again, and see if this behavior shows again. I've had that happen to me a few times, confused me too, but not happened again.

I ve played both 4.0 and allied force. With my old pc,i had win98,the 4.0 displayed the key assignments correctly. In this pc,i have vista x32 with the latest service pack and the latest drivers, here both 4.0 and bms display the keys in this weird way...You can see from thepiture as well, for example, those command.I don t even know these letters...And additioonally,''o'' with those dots on top of it isn t ''o'' on the keyboard...Could that be some kind of glitch cause of the vista perhaps...Tried to start again the agme,bt still the same. Both bms and 4.0which is much older...

Can you check on Control Panel -> Region and Language that the format is English (United States)?

And on the same window, On the Keyboards and Language tab, click Change Keyboards and verify that the same format is set there?

Read the BMS dash-34 manual in your docs folder. The radios are normally tuned from the Up-Front Controls (UFC) which is the keypad right in front of you (Integrated Control Panel - ICP) and the small screen to the right of that (Data Entry Display - DED). The dials by your left knee are the backup UHF controls. By the way note also that there is no backup VHF.

Yep, input of radio frequencies is done via the ICP+DED, not the backup system on the side console.

In your BMS install, there is a .key file called BMS.key. Try loading that and see if it changes things.
