In an interview with Scott regarding BR sequel:

(some details may change)

- It will be a proper sequel.

- The setting will be several years after the first movie events.

- Protagonist will be a female.

- Not tied up to the project yet, but Scott would like Harrison Ford involved and Mario Van Peebles.

Ridley Scott Wants Harrison Ford for 'Blade Runner' Sequel
20 hours ago | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Director Ridley Scott wants Harrison Ford for his upcoming "Blade Runner" sequel. "I don't think it'll be Harry [starring]," Scott told the U.K.'s Independent. "But I've got to have him in it somewhere. That'd be amusing." The actor, now 69, played the lead role of replicant hunter Rick Deckard in Scott's 1982 sci-fi classic. There was no word Monday from Ford's camp on what he thinks of the idea. Alcon Entertainment is producing the film with Scott Free Productions, »

Interesting if Ford will want to do it, he didn't get along with Scott very well, IIRC.

Correct. Ford in interviews has described BR as one of his worst film experiences in his career. The again, apparently there were several people involved in the production who didn't like Scott.

Ah, I just love quotes that end with a comma in mid-story!

1982 is a long time ago and a lot of water under the bridge. Certainly less of a worry if he isn't playing the main character.

Plus in those days Ridley was under massive pressure for BR, from all sides, apparently it wasn't much fun for him either. I'm sure Harrison's agents would help ensure he'd be treated exceptionally well today...and frankly I don't think Ridley'd want to repeat pissing off a major celeb like that again!

Funny, but similar things are mentioned about acting for Micheal Mann, another similarly talented director, yet seemingly unpleasant to work for.
