If they have infantry along with those tanks I might just cry...although I cant see the role they would play in the IL2 game world.

I wonder how Clod buyers feel now, knowing that the team is working on another il2 mmo game and Clod will be probably left behind.

What the hell, is this real? Will this be the Battle of Moscow or is this something they will be working on the side, either way Im not happy at all.CLOD has been shelved for me for a lot of time, after many patches and more than a year I still havent played this sim for more than a few minutes. Why cant they commit to fix this sim at all costs for all the people who bought this piece of software and were let down in some way?If it cant be fixed, why not tell the truth and start all over? I rather hear that than keep on hoping like I have been all this months.

Err, these guys can't even write a decent graphics engine and a usable GUI. You think they can code an MMO??

Yeah, because it's well known that if you're not capable to develop a working single player title, then the next logical step is to develop a MMO. wacky

If this is legit, this is a new low for this team, and certainly the last thing I want to ever hear from them.

I guess they figure MMOs are the way to go economically . . . though realistically alot of them fold and collapse in the first months or year. And while the potential for profit is higher, there is, I believe the potential for bigger loss as well (since you have to buy servers, tech support, etc.).

Personally, I my interest in IL-2 (or any other flight sim) was directly tied to the extent that it light me recreate the career of a WWII fighter/dive bomber pilot. I sincerely doubt I'd ever bother with an MMO, and I sincerely doubt that a hardcore (realism) MMO will make any money when competing against World of Planes and those feeling burned from CloD are unlikely to be early adopters. Not to mention, Battleground Europe already has realistic flight simulation in a combined ops MMO for people that want it. To me it seems a dead end, at least for western markets.

Maybe in their attempts to "Crush the opposition" their blind thrashing around for ideas might actually, by the law of averages, find them the niche that they are looking for. I think this push forward is being done by 1C-Online using their CloD engine...or more likely their BoM engine. 1C-Online Im guessing is a new department pushing things forward in a different direction.

I reckon World of Planes might have the jump on them here, though. Who knows. Knowledge is king tho....

Perhaps we're looking at this the wrong way. With the negative image they've brought upon themselves in the FlightSim community, perhaps they are looking for a new market... Those 10million WoW'ers need somewhere to go right?

LOL

Given recent history why would you believe anything these guys say? Next week they'll be developing a first person sic-fi shooter.

Since Oleg left (and possibly before), Maddox Games has quite simply been a mess. As much as I wish that Clod will be a success, I have zero confidence in this development studio to produce a working flight sim, much less an MMO.

Perhaps if they are just going to complete the engine and license it to someone else, then maybe. But I pity the poor indie development studio who agreed to license this engine.

Nothing will happen until the game engine is fixed. The game engine was initially designed to do a number of venues including single player, multiplayer, MMO, etc, etc. Everything the team is working on now can apply to anyone of these venues. Mentioning that they will build an MMO doesn't automatically mean they are dropping support for COD or following sequels. These venues are just a collection of the same game engine, aircraft, vehicles, and maps, etc. "IF" they can get the game engine working, everything else is much easier, and they will be able to use all the venues as sources of income.
