Looks really good! I came here to complain about not enough fan videos and found this. Great timing! I hope the sounds in this game lives up to the graphics. The water looks a lot better than in Wings of Prey.
From what I understand, even though heavy bombers have lacked cockpits in Birds of Steel, this might change in War Thunder. I would sure hope so. If you look at the tech trees (and even Birds of Steel, though the plane list is smaller for BoS), there are a lot of planes with cockpits (ie everything else than heavy bombers), even the CAC Boomerang and Wirraway!
How will an online-battle in this game work? Is it like World of Tanks, so we can expect airstarts with a mixed team of german-brtish-american-sovjet - aircrafts fighting in a round of 15 minutes against another mixed team with german-brtish-american-sovjet - aircrafts ?
According to their plan, there is a mode (which I'll stay away from) for instant battles where you get a mix of everything (but still picked from one nation vs another, not axis vs allies), but there will also be dynamical historical campaign (more coop oriented as far as I understand), which sort of implies that the planes would not be function of a leveling/grinding system, and then there is the World War mode, which hasn't been explained at all (I would hope that it would involve series of battles progressing with a realistic set of planes and battles, but no one knows). So it would seem that the game will try to appeal to various players with very different modes, or so I would hope anyway. I personally really want to see how the coop and historical campaign side works out first (and maybe World War will be fine too, if it's not a World of Tanks affair with levelling and economy) There is a good overview of all of that here: http://warthunder.com/en/game/features/13/current/
