Have been able to play loads of missions w/o crashing with anti-aliasing off.

I can't play without AA, all the jaggy lines would drive me crazy.

I've not had a crash yet, but my low end rig can't use AA. So this could be why I've had good stability!

Not sure if anyone has noticed, but in the game folder there is a readme for enabling FXAA and SMAA.

If it is standard AA related, maybe one of these will work?

It does work really well. I'm now running it with SMAA enabled and find both the performance and the graphics better. Especially when playing online. For some reason with regular AA online I was finding some buildings with strange textures which had a grid over them. This disappeared when using SMAA.

Its the IF.cfg file in X:\Users\YOU\Documents\Iron Front

The settings are at the very bottom.

PPAA=<number>;
PPAA_Level=<number>;

Accepted values for PPAA are:

2 - FXAA + sharp filter
3 - SMAA

Accepted values for PPAA_Level are:

1 - SMAA_PRESET_MEDIUM

I haven't the faintest what FXAA and SMAA are or how they could help.

They are a form of antialiasing, that is more efficient than traditional antialiasing methods that ArmA 2 also uses via the ingame graphics settings menu. Currently the only way to activate it is to edit the config file manually as there is no interface option for it ingame yet.

Basically makes the game look nicer at less of a performance cost than the old antialias settings.

They are a form anti aliasing but done via the post processing filter. So rather than doing all the passes like MSAA & SSAA while rendering, it looks at the image once rendered, gets all the edges it can find and smooths them. It doesn't look as good as 'proper' AA, but it uses way less GPU power.

Edit: Beat me to it smile

I was going to get technical Tigerwulf but tried to dumb my post down so people would still understand what we were talking about haha.

That's about as technical as I can get anyway without having the person being with me and me making weird gestures and having to draw little pictures smile

Thanks Tigerwulf .

Hell and Ian , FSAA and SMAA are forms of post processing Anti Aliasing - Im no expert to say the least, but they make your game look better by smoothing it all out . Less jaggy edges .

I've had a lot of success with SMAA in Cliffs of Dover.
