I guess they have a market for this, otherwise they wouldn't be releasing one new 'external only' warbird each month. I truly am baffled by this product but maybe there has always been a demand for a civilian flight sim that isn't very 'simmy,' and that lets you fly warbirds in a game that doesn't offer any combat.

Eh, the more I think about it, FLIGHT is the aerial equivalent to car racing games. How soon will it be before you can buy engine upgrades, wider prop, etc? Or is that already part of the business model?

Actually I think maybe the warbird lineup was just something they always had in the plan..perhaps not realizing they'd be so terribly received (at least judging by the Facebook comments..lol..) So maybe once they get the ones out of the pipeline they will change their plan. I would expect there would be some sort of bush plane when they release the Alaska DLC. It would be idiotic not to do that..

This. Figure they've already put in the development cost, might as well float it. My guess is a lot of that market is people who buy it without realizing (ie reading the description) there's no cockpit or working guns. It'll pay off today but this will catch them in the end.

They've actually said this on the beta forums. The 4 cockpit-less warbirds were locked in as the initial DCL before the beta even went out. So in reality (at least according to M$), they haven't had a chance yet to respond to the market.

Will be interesting to see if/what improvement Alaska brings, and then what direction things go after that.

I haven't touched MS Flight in weeks. This is partially due to the fact that civil aviation flight simulators usually don't hold my attention for long (haven't touched FSX either). But this is also due to the fact that I got a little tired of flying over Hawaii. I'm sure Alaska will spark my interest again, but who knows how long it will hold...

They've had three months. Many game titles don't have a longer shelf life than that. To me this seems as if they don't want to commit themselves to Flight, so why should we gamers/simmers do?

I am enjoying the game as it is (free) but cannot believe these new planes have no cockpits. What are they thinking!!! You have to keep expanding the game with proper content to keep people interested. They cannot make money from a free game only from the add-ons but who is going to pay for a plane they cannot fly from a pilots view?

I'd say more important than cockpits with airplanes, or new airplanes, is more exciting content. The aero-cache thing gets old really quick. As someone else said, more diverse missions with more fun goals (banner towing, formation flying, engine out emergencies, more of the search and rescue type missions) are important to the game part of the game. Flight right now is sort of like playing Armed Assault with no enemies, no mission, and only 3 city blocks to roam.
