Saw this movie a few weeks ago. It's...um...hard to recommend, or tell people to avoid. Basically it starts off with a bang, litterally, the city is under a multiple warhead nuclear attack, and the main characters are racing to the basement of their building to avoid the blast waves.
So they seal themselves in, awaiting signs from the outside, rationing what few cans of food are available. And then things turn bad! (as if nuclear annihilation wasn't already horrific).
This is not a "feel good" movie. People under stress for extended periods of time. But it's well done, and the story isn't predictable. But as I said, hard to recommend because most will be turned off by it. Definately not a "date" movie, unless you really want the date to fail!
Thing is, I've had a nagging feeling about a major plot point (and please use the Spoiler tags to keep it from the view of those who haven't seen the movie yet):
The guys in white suits!? Who were they? What were they really doing there? And why did none of them come back later?
I mean, yea, I "get" that they were part of some sort of research team...I THINK...but sent by whom? And why were they already nearby, given they arrived just a day or few after the bombings?
And since the radiation levels would have been off the scale, just what did they hope to accomplish with survivors?
I guess I'm saying, their presence creates more questions than the movie answered!
