Took this morning off for a couple hours and headed over to Mankato to Minnemishinona Falls.
this past few days has been extremely wet with over 5 inches of rain back home in New Ulm
along with a localized severe weather. This past week I have been studying how to take HDR
photos and learning the setup and post process work. Bought Photomatix 4.2.1 HDR and gave it
a go.

Most of these were processed using presets within Photomatix, still learning all this stuff.

that's a good looking series Jim, I think you're next step is to get yourself a neutral density filter, prop your rig up on a tripod and do some long-time frames. They will make your waterfall and stream pics come out fantastic!

Let me know if I'm talking greek and I can explain more

Very cool shot Jim, I love going out for waterfall shots and a friend of mine helped me purchase some of the neutral density filters that Big Dog is talking about. When you go out in mid day and try to slow down you're shutter you'll need them for sure. Give's that water flowing look instead of the dead stop like what happens with prop planes.

Here's one of my favorite waterfalls, it's Beaver Brook Falls in Upper NH.

The waterfalls look so different in the winter, I got the kids and I saw snow shoes and I use them to hit the waterfalls during the winter months.

I'll post the brand name of my 3 set filters I have, highly recommended!

I still haven't tried HDR photo's, need to take a stab at that. I've seen some amazing shots and I've seen some WAY over processed shots.

Thanks for the tips. I used a UV filter on this series and processed raw files with Photomatix.

Yes, that's a nice series, and not too overdone.

A friend of mine does a lot of landscape photography, and I think usually does a pretty good balance on the HDR processing:

Thanks guys, on vacation in the UP of Michigan at this time. Found a rental home on Huron Bay of Lake Superior back in Feb.
and booked it. This place is fantastic, only drawbacks are no AC and no dishwasher. Was in the mid 90`s for the first couple days
and we were dying. This even has a 7 man out Hot tub but does nothing to cool you down. Even swan in Lake Superior, water temps
at the head of Huron Bay are already around 61f. Felt good for a short time. Then overnight the front passed through and temps
are now around 50f. This is great until the rain stops. In the mean time I have some new shots for you look over.

Day 1 the trip North

Day 2, we arrive at Brennan`s Seasons on the Bay

Day 3, getting familier with the place and trying to stay cool.

Day 4, June 11th 2012, Weather conversion day
