Take landscape down from high to medium (the biggest decrease in memory usage) and from 2000m you don't see the difference...

meuhey, you should be able to turn some of those things on or up. My old system is 4 x 2.66 with a 4870 and grass/trees were on high. Trees are a must for me. Now that said, I agree post processing on marginal to low end systems needs to be turned off. Ground texture at medium was the biggest help, and Aniso at bilinear.

Armitage, my 6 year old system ran fine with reflections medium. I'd try turning them on with your system specs...

Ah-hem, now new system and running maxed out, except supersampling. As Jason mentioned, it still crushes all but the mightiest GPUs and I sure don't have one of those...

I have a pretty damn good GPU now - a 6970 Lighting 2G - and SS drives it down and doesn't look any better than cranking up all the other settings.

Not to brag - OK I will - I can get mid 30s FPs w/ 30 a/c in the air. Don't hate me. I waited a LOOOOOONNNNGGGGG time to finally get a beefy rig and I am know loving life.

Only mid-30s? I believe you should be able to obtain more than that. I'm mostly above the 60 fps mark at 30 planes with all ground objects. I have a GTX580 myself, but the 6970 should be close. RoF settings included:

I thought he tried it and turned it off because it didn't look any better than maxing everything else. If I'm mistaken then ignore my post.

This game isn't worth anyone's time!!!!? You're kidding , right? Laggy menu? Funny I don't have that. Works beautifuly and without problems on my rig. Most played game on my computer. Game core needs fixing , my a##!
Problem is at your end. Clean up your computer, turn off background programs. i7 processor, here. 2.95 GB. 8 GB of RAMM. 2GB ATI 5770 Video Card. No super computer and ROF runs great.

My mistake. I thought he referenced that SS on or off doesn't look any difference and with it off he was getting mid 30s FPS. With SS on, I get around the same performance so that would make more sense. Now if I could get my NVCP to work properly and actually process MSAA for any game that would be awesome.

In any event, you know what would be cool? A developer to create a visually terrific game with a great DM and an amazing FM and oh - it already exists and is called Rise of Flight?
