(wrecks on the ground, or only in the sea) ps: You probably survived (and learned from) more SAM battles virtually, than the real FCO's defending Tripoli, during their training...

Our favorite "HARM friendly" radar, the P-18 (Spoon Rest) during an exercise, in Hungary. Preparation on a new location. In operation. Connection to the IADS system. His newer brother, the phase shifter - digital - 3D - ST-68U (Tin Shield) on the top of the hill.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean! We had so much battles in SAM simulator, that our degree of proficiency with it grew to extreme height. I bet that if any real SAM crew will have so much training, it will be able to achieve very impressive results in a battle. Training is everything. By the way, I wonder if SAM Simulator is used by some real armed forces for training - strictly inofficially, of course... Such situation wouldn't be unique - so-called "games", or, more appropriately, hard-core simulators, have been used for that on many occasions... The most striking example is a model of Tu-154 aircraft, developed by a group of enthusiasts for Microsoft Flight Simulator some 10 years ago - it was used inofficially for training at Russian civil aviation academy, and later received a letter of approval from Tupolev. Moreover, a few guys who worked on it, now work for Tupolev's flight simulation department... Since more than few armed forces are still using S-75, S-125 and S-200, I wouldn't be surprised if they are actually using SAM Sim!

I don't know about others, but I'm starting to fell in love with this simple but so efficient little radar

I bet that if any real SAM crew will have so much training, it will be able to achieve very impressive results in a battle. Training is everything. Just some additional information about the Human factor... In reality, this attack happened on a Tuesday, 2am!!! The attack against Benghazi started few minutes earlier, and the SAM units there, were bravely standing up for their fight. My guess is that the phone "intercom" (battle noise) was distributed between all units in Libya, as usual. Tripoli SAM FCO's probably heard, how their Benghazi counterparts received their HARM punishment (used first time in history)... .. and had the knowledge, that the MiG-25P fighter alert at Tripoli AFB simply refused to take off during the night attack! The P-14 radar guarding Tripoli was switched off few hours before the attack, leaving the Senezh IADS with only one P-19 (Flat Face) heightfinder radar on guard, to supply information. This radar received the first HARM of the Tripoli attack, leaving the multi million (Rubles) IADS system completely blind. All in all, SAM units around Tripoli, simply refused to fight, during EDC. As we know in hindsight, they missed a better opportunity, than their braver Benghazi counterparts ever had. The sole "brave" (or simply uninformed) ZSU-23-4 proven this, by achieving the sole kill of EDC (Karma-52)...

Yeah, those "brave" warriors (don't name them by nationality here) are well known for their "achievements" and "heroism". My granfather's friend served as advisor in Egypt and told a lot of stories about them, like when Israelis stole an entire P-12 radar... I wonder which results could be achieved if those air defences would be manned by Soviets, or maybe Serbs...
