If you really want to start with Eve Online then joining EveUni is one of the best ways to do so. You'll learn a ton of stuff including small and medium scale PvP and many corps will love to take an EveUni graduate into their ranks. As with all MMOs, the fun really starts if you get into a nice group.

crikeys, i remember the days when i beta tested and played at release......

The game has changed so much, i would have no idea where to begin.... if my character still esists.

This must be one of the few great success stories of MMO's

I did get into EveUni, but never got much from it... I think they had a really long waiting list.

Last time I played Eve (1-2 years ago) I applied to EveUni, got into the corp within a week or so and went into PvP with them the very next day. After 2-3 months I started leading smaller groups myself as FC, had tons of fun.

I was running three characters together as a team. With MechWarrior Online just around the corner, it wasn't hard to let other annoyances with Eve Online finally tip the scale to "getting out of it". Last year, Hulkageddon was something like a week and a half in duration. This year, it's up to a whole month. It's a 'sandbox', so they let people do what they will, within the constructs of the game... I understand that. You'd think people who want their PvP fix would have been happy enough with doing it in null sec / wormhole space and in low sec. (There's plenty to be had in Wormhole space) At least for now, and up until I forget the various things that annoy me about it, I'm pretty much done with participating in Eve's economy (and CCP's income stream).

For someone starting out / restarting, without an existing bunch of friends in there... Eve University is probably as good a place to start as any. If you're strictly interested in PvP, you could also look at getting in with the Red vs Blue folks, as that is what they are all about.

They recently sent me an email trying to get me to resub, 90 days for £20. Still not interested, I'm done with MMO's.

The real fun in EVE is 0.0. It sucks up a lot of time though, and alliance politics are about as much fun as RL politics. I played in the beta and the about 3 years afterwards before I realized it was suckin up my life. smile

Well they really screwed up with the inventory thing IMO.

I guess after a few years of getting my routine, I build alot of stuff, down they way I like it, I now have to change they way I do everything to fit their new inventory system. screwy

Yeah... I've only spent a little time in there since the change, so I figured I may not have enough time in it to give it a fair evaluation... but that new inventory setup annoyed the crap out of me. I had stuff organized in my hanger the way I wanted it... logged on after the update and was pretty disgusted. It's probably pretty logical once one spends a little time adjusting to it... But I doubt I'll give it the effort.
